I'd rather listen to the students on BIG+ than Walton, Dykes, Marshall or Burkes. Walton is by far the worst by a mile and probably the worst "professional" to ever get paid to announce a basketball game. Dykes somehow manages to combine the smarminess of Bilas/Hummel along with a complete lack of awareness of basketball outside of the SEC. Burkes is just incredibly boring with little apparent personality. Marshall is both boring and largely unaware, seems like he is just collecting a paycheck for as little effort as possible. 

I can tolerate the rest, even Bardo, and a few are actually enjoyable likes Settles and Kellogg. I still miss Kitch and Laz, though Kitch was definitely in the mode of a know it all like Bilas.

For me Bardo has improved to the point that when I saw he was our guy tonight I was kinda happy about it.

I will say the one thing I can't stand from an announcer is to call a game as if the team that is ahead is doing everything right and the team behind is completely lost.  Always funny when they have to switch sides on that take when the lead changes.

I felt the same.  I used to not be a fan of his but he has definitely grown on me a bit.  Also, not really related to his commentary, but I just realized a couple days ago his older brother was on our '81 title team.  Played quite sparingly but he was there.  Thought that was interesting.

I think Hummel is very good. Consistently one of the best across all networks.

That said, I prefer Bardo on IU games.  He has grown on me significantly over the years.  He's not as good as Hummel, but I enjoy listening to him more, if that makes sense.

My least favorite thing that announcers do is their inability to hold back from saying "is this (insert month) or is this March??" when a game is entertaining. Newsflash there are good games all year lol.

I'm in the minority in that I've never minded Bardo.  Pretty vanilla announcing but doesn't make me grit my teeth.  Really like Hummel.

He's back to coaching, but my favorite guy to hear do commentary was Steve Lavin.
