You don't need NFL talent on defense to beat Illinois.  The quarterback that absolutely lit up IU was a backup at Ball State for three years and then when he was the starter there was mediocre at best.  The Illini have averaged 21 points per game, scored 7 points against Nebraska, and the most points they scored all year was 30....against Toledo.

If we want to be "successful" we need NFL talent on both sides of the ball.  Illinois is just one team in the conference.  We need to be competitive with all of them and that means we need NFL talent.  JMO
