If that’s the case and our evaluation says this kid is a stud why are we just now hearing about him?

Because after having a great summer he decommitted from Providence yesterday.

No offense to the kid but losing out on a 5 star and having no backup option other than jumping into a mid-low 4 star wasn’t something I was hoping to keep seeing

Sometimes the 3 and 4 stars have more upside then the some of these 5 stars. I know these guys weren’t point guards, but a few perfect examples are both former 3 star recruits, OG Anunoby and  V. Oladipo…. JMO…

This is the exact same thing we have heard for years. I suppose now it will suddenly start paying dividends after never being adequate before

Kudos to the HSN board, who identified that Daquan Davis was a high school teammate of Derik Queen.
If he helps cement our 5* center recruit do you like him better Brass Cannon?

Love that. Can Cupps be our 1A pg next year? Because that’s likely the scenario we are heading towards if this develops. Galloway might be able to slide over.

If it helps sure. But still wont be happy with our guard rotation after this year.  But DQ could make us attractive to a grad transfer so gotta hit that hard

He also played freshman year of hometown high school with DQ.

Just wondering how a three player, non-portal class of McNeeley, Queen, and Davis would feel.

My initial reaction is that it would feel really good.

With the caveat of never having watched the kid, oh yeah. My #1 ‘24, my #3 ‘24 and a hyper-competitive multi-year kid who got it done in the best conference in the country. That would be ok.

We haven't really had issues landing mid-low 4* recruits, they have a spot but we never have the horses we need.  Players like Fland and Sanon are the horses we need.

I hear you, but, stars aren't the end all be all. Russell Westbrook wasn't even ranked at all, was he?

Yes those 5 star guys would help elevate us. But I do trust this staff to only take players they think can help us win.

Development, with this staff, makes me feel pretty solid about adding a guy like this, if we end up signing him.

Rankings aren't everything but tend to be a pretty good guide.  Fland or Sanon or McNeeley are the type of talent we need to stack, especially on the perimeter in today's game.  We've seen plenty of times players ranked where Davis is aren't enough.

Players like Davis have a role but we need the top tier guards to take us to the next level.
