2024 PG Daquan Davis to Florida State

In hindsight, I wish I wouldn't have posted his stats.  He does not have a formal offer and Woody has not seen him play in an actual game and he may never receive a formal offer so I'd just caution everyone to save the fretting and stewing until he actually receives an offer if one is ever extended.  Over and out.

I appreciate the post, actually.  Even if he hasn't received a formal offer, it's pretty evident he's at least on the radar.

And people shouldn't ever read in much into just a 6 game stat total anyway.

IU, Texas A&M and Bama is kind of an interesting triumvirate. Those are some strong NIL programs, certainly more so than Providence.

I know you got slack for posting his numbers, but he just put up back to back good games:  17 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds followed by 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists.  Also shot 14 of 23 and 4 of 9 from three.  Only three turnovers to the sixteen assists in the pair of games

Sorry for being lazy, and not researching it myself. lol

But are most of his attempts, inside the arc, from midrange or at the rim. Either way, those are impressive numbers.

I don't know -- just pulling them off his player page.  I think he is best and driving and dishing and his outside game is developing.  He is putting up close to 6 assists per game in about 25 minutes.  FWIW, he's averaging 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists and his OTE team is 8-1.

As long as his character is good, I might be warming up to this kid. Regardless of height, if he competes, take him.

Cupps, Galloway,  Newton, Davis, and Gunn next year.

That's ok, I would just ask to add a very good shooter from the portal too.

The fact that Woody can take a look at his current roster and the 2024 class and he still hasn't decided if he wants to recruit this kid or not is going to make my head explode. The recruiting strategy needs to change if we are ever going to be a consistently elite team.

I think I'd probably prefer a portal addition over Davis as a FR.

We should be going after both. We need guards on the roster, we are about to probably have Gabe Cupps as a freshman starting possibly our toughest 4 game stretch of the season because we don't have any guard depth.

Hmmmm. How about... I'd take 2 portals over Davis?

I don't really have a problem with Cupps starting. I don't see where we could have carried more good guards, realistically.

Yeah I mean if you can get them that works but I would like to have some guards we develop as well so we aren't in the constant cycle of needing rentals out of the portal.

Davis HAS to be that guy? Idk. We aren't desperate. I prefer the older players, renting them doesn't bother me.

As of right now our guards for next year are Cupps, Galloway, Newton (health?), Gunn, Leal?

I would put us in the desperate category at this point.

I don't have any problem renting players but I just don't want us to be in the position of every spring portal season deciding how our upcoming season goes.
