Why is it so hard to believe that the dude simply lost his **** at Taco Bell as reported? A millionaire athlete getting pissed off and causing a scene after he’s told no isn’t exactly uncharted territory. At the very least, he did something to make the employees call the police, and he still hadn’t left by the time they got there.

Situations like this are a good reminder that we really don’t know these people. I see comments all the time along the lines of “Player/Coach X is such a great guy” from people who have never met said player/coach. And even great people have bad days (or nights).

Because blaming society rather than holding people accountable for their actions is the way of the world these days.

Pretty evident in most of these posts.

I have college students lose their sh*t on me all the time but I’m an adult and I communicate with them. I de escalate the situation and calm them down, I don’t call the police. Especially if I’m in the wrong.

Not hard at all for me to believe. I see it everyday, young people making stupid choices when they're "heightened" is an incredibly common occurrence. And you're damn right, we don't know these dudes on a personal level because if we did...half the s*** that's said in a game thread or after a loss would never happen.

My question to you, with knowing our role in the program (fans).. thats literally all we are..  fans.

Why should we care? Why's it all that big of a deal to us? He ain't my kid, he isn't one of my students, he isn't a relative.

He isn't getting any substantial suspension.. not happening.

I just flat out don't care about this.. don't let it happen again, go hit corner 3s and dunk on Purdue... about all the energy I have for someone I've never met, but plays basketball on my favorite team, and was arrested on a misdemeanor charge.

You keep saying this. You do know that in order to get a refund from a Taco Bell mobile order there’s a process involved. And it’s through Taco Bell’s customer service,  not the physical location of which you’re picking up from.

He was lawfully ordered off a property for 15 minutes and didn’t comply (that’s 14 minutes and 30 seconds too long I may add), that’s trespassing my dude. And still didn’t go home lol, he parked his car 100 feet from a place that just trespassed him.

If stupidity was a crime he’d have gotten charged for that as well.

Yeah. The law doesn't really work that way.  But you do you.

Of course it does.  Otherwise it wouldn't be a police report.  I have yet to see one which said -- "dude was completely innocent, but we arrested him anyway cause we had nothing else to do on our shift."  :)

I'm sorry, what are you saying?

Does common sense say to smash the window and arrest somebody for trespass after they have left the property?  Seems to me at that point the situation was deescalating.

Was the trespass for Taco Bell or the other place of business?

Sorry if this has been covered but does this kind of goofiness have a impact on potential future NIL? Just wondering if businesses would now be less interested in investing after something like this?

I bet many people don't know that.  I didn't know that until now.  Nor would I expect it.  If you can't provide a product, refund me my money.  You don't get to keep it for a few weeks while we go thru some "process."

If I am local Taco Bell marketing, he gets a big NIL deal.  Something about a new taco that makes you go "insane" at 2:00 am.    :)

Make lemonade from lemons.

Actually, it's not a good look for IU and future recruits.  We complain about the facilities, the cheerleader uniforms and the pregame music.  If I'm a prospect, I certainly want to know I won't get hassled late night at a freaking taco bell.

100 percent agree. It’s a bad look. If I’m a recruit it’s something I wonder about. The window break is absurd, and created a real risk that this “incident” turned into something very bad.

Commenting on the fact that a police report is not an objective set of facts, but written in the light most favorable to the police.

Well, it's supposed to be the facts.  It's definitely not supposed to be written with a slant.  I suppose that could happen and I'm sure it has before.  But not enough times for me to be jaded to the vast majority of good ones imo
