He doesn't seem so confident today.

?

I'm not sure how you can read anything into Mullins' recruitment on that.  Has nothing to do with it.

And if Tyme is just a mouthpiece for the university, wouldn't make sense for him to bash Hurley if he feels that Mullins is U Conn bound....would seem like he would be doing the opposite, complimenting the guy who 'got him over Woodson'.

Just seems to me like a post about Hurley's reaction to another Twitter account.  I did find it strange that a coach would take offense at *gasp* a computer model putting U Conn ninth to start the year, and has nothing to do with Mullins.

That’s not what it’s about. Hurley has been running his mouth and negatively recruiting against IU with multiple recruits. He’s taking shots at IU anyway he can.

So who are you saying ‘isn’t as confident as they were yesterday’?

I don’t follow what you are saying.

He knows what the offense will look like. Whether it’s a game or practice it’s not going to change

Looks like in practice and how effective it is in games could be different.

Which would tell me, as a recruit or his parent, that the repeat champion sees something at IU. If he were secure enough to let his program and accolades talk, then he would do just that. He shouldn't have to negative recruit against anyone....but there's a reason he feels like he needs to against particular programs.

I’m not sure what negative recruiting is in this context. “We’ve won 2 Naty’s and they couldn’t make the tournament with a lottery pick on the roster and a big time kid bailed on them because their offense doesn’t generate looks and now he’s here because ours does. And he’s a friend of yours, right? Feel free to check in with him,” strikes me less as “negative recruiting” and more like “lay of the land”. The way you combat that is to exceed expectations.

Seems to me he wouldn't be worried about us at all then. Just point to the recent banners.

Cringe, as IU fans point to the 5 banners from way back when.

I'd bet the family jewels Mullins has heard the banner age comparison more times than he can count. It's low hanging fruit, but if that's their game I get it.

He’s just trying to keep his team motivated, hard to find bulletin board material coming off back to back chips.

People are kidding themselves if they think Hurley is uniquely threatened by/“negative” recruiting IU and not simply giving an objective telling of facts/the lay of the land, as he sees it. That’s his pitch. He’s doing the same thing to illinois with Furphy right now. When you’re “king” you think you can have anything you want, taking it from someone is a flex. Hurley is trying to flex on the CBB landscape for another 1-3 years before he is coaching an east coast NBA team, probably.

Coming from Trilly land, Hinting UConn

Yep, I’m convinced that’s right. Oh well, we need to get guys that trust Woody, while he’s our coach. Hopefully the big spending boosters keep big spending. I think Woody should avoid high school recruiting entirely at his success rate. Just spend huge in the portal.

It seems CMW philosophy is to yes recruit high school kids BUT maybe prefers to bring in veterans during the offseason via the portal and sprinkle in a recruit or two annually.

per the UCONN board, it looks like Jacob Furphy to UCONN is a done deal.  Might have some impact on BM choosing them, maybe not.  Lots of competition.  Not sure BM gets more than 20 mins per game with the log jam they have assuming Furphy commits.

Assuming Furphy picks UCONN, this would give them 6 top 50 kids, with two or three of them having shooting as their #1 strength.  They have 2 or 3 SFs as well.

Per Travis Branham, Jacob Furphy would be a back-bencher at UConn, and will have no effect on Mullins’ decision.

Might not be a bad idea. These days, it seems our fans get awfully excited at the idea of our competitors landing other recruits because it might mean we get the guy we're after by default. That doesn't seem like a winning strategy long term.

Tyme is responding to Trilly's UConn lean and seems adamantly opposed.

As he was with Haralson.

Tyme hates Rabjohns, Trilly, Hurley and the average Indiana Twitter basketball fan.

People think it’s Yasir. Could it be Adam Howard?

Oh well, I’m ready for the program to have legitimate swagger.
