Hope he absolutely crushes it.

I hope freaking so.  I stayed up late and due to freaking commercials missed the announcement.  What BS.  I hate the NBA anyway cause it sucks and is just bad basketball.  And this is a perfect example, among many good players who didn't even get drafted.  Go get them TJD.  :)

I'll be that guy:

  • The NBA is extraordinarily great basketball. The best and it is not close. Talent, coaching, system, scheme. All of it.
  • NBA talent scouts saw Trayce as a 5 in the body of a 4. That can work in some systems, but limited his appeal.
  • LeBron is a flat out winner and easily one of the top ten players to ever put on basketball shoes.

Interesting little audio from Buchanan.

Very interesting but also could be some necessary distraction to redirect the state's ire towards the Pacers right now.  Or the truth is in the middle somewhere.  Either way, the Pacer's notoriously make crap draft decisions so expecting that to change isn't really expected.

If it was scrolled under a Taco Bell commercial, Trayce is destined for greatness.

Re:  Trayce being a 5 in the body of a 4......

Starting centers in the league include

Bam Adebayo is 6'9", 255.  Inside player only, averages 20+

Jarrett Allen is 6'9", 243.  Inside player only.  14 and 10 player.

Robert Williams III, 6'9" 237  8/8 in 20 mpg.

Clint Capela, 6'10" 240.  12/11 player.

Kevin Looney, 6'9" 222.  7/9 player in 24 mpg

Trayce measured 6'8.25" and 240 at the combine....but the heights listed above are with shoes.  Looney was 6'8" at the combine and Adebayo was a touch under 6'9".

While I agree that the NBA views Trayce as a 5 in the body of a 4, IMO there are tons of players like that in the NBA.  And while the NBA is obviously the best league in terms of talent by far, they are also a league of copycats who want to imitate what they've seen succeed, we are also coming off a Nuggets title for a team that probably has the least athletic 4/5 combo in the NBA in Jokic and Gordon.  And IMO it's more about the two of them having really good basketball IQ as opposed to their ability to shoot from the perimeter.  Between them, they averaged taking 26 shots per game and under 5 were from distance.

I think what he's saying is true. Chris Livingston's agent was calling teams telling them not to draft him because they had a deal lined up with Milwaukee. I am not sure why he would go out of his way to say they were told not to draft him if that wasn't the case. That being said, the Pacers literally have three other guys very similar to him. I was very disappointed too, but at the end of the day the decisions are based on fit and the player's desire to want to be on the team. Really the one recent IU guy they pass on that was inexcusable was OG. He's exactly the kind of player they needed and still need. That was a total flub.
