2023 SF/PF Mackenzie Mgbako to INDI-F’N-ANA

I heard 6'8" but it could easily be heard as 6'6".

I think he said 6'6" which is in line with him playing the three both now and in the pros. Interesting that someone might potentially low-ball their height to seem more attractive as a wing/three projectable.

Mom does not look like one to be trifled with.

Unless Woody is down to like 6’2”,  Mgbako is more than 6’6”.

X
Galloway
Banks
MM
Ware/Reneau
I would think this is a possible lineup.
I would go

X
Galloway
MM
Ware
Reneau

Use ware as a stretch 4 and Reneau as the true post. Banks first guy off the bench

Why is measuring without shoes even a thing? Unless you're a swimmer, pretty much any kind of activity is going to involve having shoes on.

With that thinking why do they weigh players at the NFL combine in just boxers. They don't play just in boxers so they should weigh them in full gear

Ya know, “How tall is Mgbako, really” is my favorite rabbit hole in some time. Saturday can’t get here soon enough.

Whether his height is actually 6'8, who knows but the confusion of him saying he's 6'6 just didn't happen. He clearly says he's 6'8.

That's what I heard the first time but I certainly wouldn't say he clearly says that. He says it pretty quickly and I can definitely hear how some people would think he said 6'6". The confusion is from him not saying it clearly.

MM is #5 on this list just which is tops in the B1G.

At #6 is Deshawn Harris-Smith and it talks about him hitting from outside. It's been a while but I thought he was more of a really athletic slasher type? Am I remembering incorrectly (or possibly confusing him with someone else), is the writer wrong, or has his shot improved?

May have improved some. There was room for it. Was solid off the catch. But his action used to start a little low, a bit below his waist, so he struggled some with it off his bounce. But, man, he’s a good player. I’m a fan.

Yeah, we never seemed to get any traction with him on our visit, it’s the rare one that was over while it was ongoing.  Even some bad press seemed to leak a little on that one, but man, he was the 1 2023 recruit in retrospect this roster could have really used.  Kid is so good.  He’s got that dog in him.

Oh yeah. I doubt there will be any reason not to go. He’s physically and emotionally mature. His skill set translates, no problem. He doesn’t have a sky-high ceiling because he’s not super explosive or a great athlete. But, he’ll play forever because he’s rock solid and 6’9” combo forwards who can really shoot it don’t grow on trees. He may not go in the lottery,  but someone will see a 10 yr rotation guy and jump on him.

He’s Jalen Hood Schifino with a different skill set, if that makes sense.

Yup, that pretty well covers it. Unless he’s nicked up this year, or he just absolutely wants to win a Natty, I’m not sure what a 2nd yr of college does for him.
