And I am heading to Bloomington for the IU/Ball State game so expecting my phone to start buzzing incessantly with news of the commitment. Fortunately with the pace of baseball games now days I’ll have ample time to check texts and respond between pitches.

I don't know about the college game but the MLB games are a lot quicker

Because these guys have lots of followers but don’t follow many people. They don’t just follow random people.

When they all the sudden add Cliff, all our players, our operations coordinator, our staff, walk-ons, our incoming recruits and local college girls, there is a reason.

he doesn’t follow anyone from Tenn., St John’s etc. if he was just following random people he would be following some of them too. But these players don’t do that. He also did it all in succession last night.

Chris Ledlum follows 1162 people

Cool, as you said, you don’t understand social media.

no sweat, dont believe it means anything then. i am sure he just decide to follow everyone at IU and no other school on a whim.

He’s only been to IU?   You just said it meant something because he doesn’t follow a bunch of people but now you are changing the goal posts

You want these follows to mean something which is fine but honestly there’s no evidence they do. Judging by those follows kid adds just about everybody he meets

For Ware the follows probably did mean a bit more. But Ware also follows like 1/5 as many people as ledlum. Clearly not following everybody he meets in person.

On one of these visits you meet everyone. From the head coach down to the student assistants and everyone in between.

It isn't out of the ordinary to follow a bunch of people you just met. I certainly wouldn't chalk it up to a commitment. Many have been burned by that logic before.

Yeah and Ware was too. Rahnjohns also said that.

not all these guys are all knowing. Me included.

fyi.. staff starting to tweet some stuff too. Like they are excited again. Will see. All will be fine.

Ware cancelled his Bama visit like a day or so after IU, granted he didn't have a week between visits either.

I'm not saying Ledlum won't eventually commit, I'm just saying that it appears right now his mind isn't made up.  When a recruit visits they'll meet Cliff Marshall, the players, etc so I wouldn't put much stock in that especially if IU has been his only visit so far.

I sometimes miss the day when you found out about your recruiting class in the newspaper the day after signing day.

Today there is way to many social media and bloggers out there wanting to be the first to report news. It doesn't even have to be factual anymore gor a post to go out. The media use to have 3 confirmed sources before the could put out the news.  Now a blogger can put something out there as fact but it is just his opinion.

It is a sad day when people are trying to see who a recruit is following on social media to figure out where he is going to commit.  It is just like trying to chart planes in coaching searches

You always have the option of not following recruiting on message boards and waiting until after signing day to see who IU has coming in. No one is forcing you to do differently.

I do enjoy talking about recruiting but some of it seems to be getting out of control.
