OK. Not everyone (certainly not me as I asserted several times that he lacked the ball handling skills for that position). But many posters in the off season argued for Geronimo at the 3 ahead of Miller Kopp. And, there seemed to be a lot of love for him. Now the majority of posters have turned on him.

There was never the majority of posters wanting him to play the three ahead of Kopp. For sure one or two, maybe three. NOT the majority, though.

He majorly underperformed this season. I think most had hopes for him after last year. This season Woody had to get on him for him to have 1 decent game before a minor injury setback that he never recovered from

I'll say that I thought it was a good idea to let him practice the 3 all summer, work on his dribbling, shooting everything and give it a shot. I will also say I was totally wrong and it was a bad idea. He should have just kept being a 4. It didn't workout at all

Same.  And the funny think is that I don't think a single poster who thought he could play the three would say that now.

Yeah, I got a ton of heat from a select few on here last summer for maintaining that JG was NOT a wing and that he needed to focus on being a junkyard dog, dirty work forward that defended, rebounded, etc., and stop worrying about the perimeter play.

He was never going to be a wing here and certainly wasn't taking Kopp's spot.

Guilty as charged.

@HoosierAloha wanted to start him at the point!  It was a strange summer.

Way more than one or two or maybe three. Let's not rewrite history. There were a large and vocal number of posters who wanted Gerinomo to play the 3.
I think people were thinking he was going to practice and make a jump in basketball skill. Clearly that is never ever going to happen now. I think most were worried he may hit the portal last season now most are worried he won't this one lol

I most definitely wanted to give him a shot there.  And @Chris007 and I were most definitely not alone in that.  I would say I was probably the most vocal in saying he should.  Proved out to be wrong.  FWIW, we know the staff went into the offseason with that as a though....and it must have gotten stopped pretty quickly by what he was showing.

Here’s my projected lineup as of today:

1 Xavier Johnson

2 Timberlake

3. Jamison Battle

4 Reneau

5 Shedrick

bpg Cupps

bsg Galloway

bsf Gunn

bpf Banks

bc Sparks

3 extras with limited play

Leal, Newton, Doughty

I like the transfer portal optimism, but man I hope we aren’t playing two bigs again.

Also hoping to see Banks compete for starter minutes. We’ll see what he does with more opportunity.

Not Doughty.

Man you are a major portal acquisition optimist! If we go 4/4 on those guys that would be astounding. I cannot imagine that will happen, but here’s to hoping.

A bit optimistic about transfers. I know there will be home visits, but I would be surprised if both Battle and Shedrick end up at IU. Timberlake seems far fetched. We might land one of those three.

Yeah, Timberlake isn’t likely. Lol. UNC makes more sense.

Fine.  Find me another guard.  I’m sticking with Shedrick and Battle for the time being. And Sparks because why the hell not.
