Kopp, Galloway, and JHS must think this is a high percentage option??? I don't know, the floater is generally one of the most efficient and difficult to defend shots out there. Why everyone was missing is a question, but as a shot for a guard attacking the basket, it's one of the better ones. moyemayhem and BGleas 2 Quote

Its so easy to see. several of the other guys are so wishy washy its hard to have much faith in them or see the fruits of the labor. I generally want him on the floor, paired with TJD and/or JG (when healthy). I'd take the fouls, let him learn/play through it, his skill level is right there with the best, imo, along with size and strength. If we're talking this year, it's TJD for me going forward, but I don't know who I otherwise have the most confidence in. I hear you, but I tend to look more at how guys play when paired with others, and just accepting some faults and letting them play through them because of how they help us win as a group. For me those are JHS, Malik and Gallo, all of whom have their areas to work on, and I'd slot JG in there when playing with/complimenting TJD and/or Malik (despite his off games, for what he showed in our unbeaten run playing good minutes with TJD). I think Bates' is close, still up and down but the talent is there. Quote

Most of his floaters were not going in. Gallo does make them but it's more of a "do I pass, or do I shoot" thing. It's great when they go in, but it's kind of a high risk shot. More guys can alter your shot if you shoot the conventional pullup. Quote

He is. I don't see his work as film study, it's timing/defensive work in games against quality bigs. He's been getting better and I am fully sure he'll get there, he is exceptionally skilled on the offensive end/footwork, the defensive timing will come. Gallo is still prone to getting out of control, with all the energy and defensive tenacity he brings, I want him on the floor regardless, he usually elevates the team's play, but yeah it's something he should continue to work on as well. 36 minutes ago, WayneFleekHoosier said: Reneau is the guy I have the most reliance on to help us going forward. Malik Reneau has such a high ceiling and is now getting plenty of minutes. By March he will be an experienced freshman and we will also be adding Xavier to the guard rotation. A primary five of X, JHS, Kopp, Malik, and Trayce is very intriguing. I am an eternal optimist; I see this as an 11 loss team that has a real chance to make some serious noise during March Madness ... while Purdue falls in the round of 32 against the Florida Atlantic Owls and 7'1" Vlad Goldin. Whoozhers Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 That out of bounds call at 3:09 in favor of Maryland was atrocious. Clearly out on them. 50/50 balls never seem to bounce our way. More like 20/80 in the opponents favor. We need to go HARDER after loose balls. Much harder. Quote

I think that's a pretty low % shot against Maryland type athletes.. takes too long to get the shot off compare to a runner. We can also get more lobs attacking with the mindset we're either shooting a runner or throwing a lob.. They're similar motions and look similar to the defense... compared to shooting a pull up jumper. JHS just shot a lot of shots last night that he normally makes, happens. I didnt think TJD got to as many good spots on the floor as he usually does, though. Quote

IU_FanClub Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Most frustrating thing for me is Geronimo being yet another example of a guy that starts playing really well and then out of nowhere is missing multiple games due to random injury HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

It's a shot that's taken when a defender is converging or trying to get in position to block it. It's also a shot you take when you have a player with a clear advantage in rebounding position because if it's missed it comes off the rim softly. Galloway's floater has typically been effective because of how often we score even when he misses. lillurk, CSP and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

I know teams go through injuries but this year and years past, we seem to have our share of injuries and then some. As far as I know, Purdue has had only 1 player injured that missed games and we have had 5 and all the players either start or have started this year. Could it be possible that Cliff Marshall could have a hand in it this? It just seems like since he arrived under Archie Miller, we have had a lot of injuries. He was a football trainer and basketball uses different muscles, endurance and agility. Thoughts? realTomCrean and HoosierAloha 2 Quote

We seem to lack energy on the road and the players don’t seem to know how to get themselves up for these road games. Whoozhers 1 Quote

Yes, we don't go hard after loose balls and have had a case of butterfingers trying to grab rebounding balls. I believe this plays into the foul discrepancy too. We seem to not go hard or go balls to the wall hard and foul. You would think with a combined 15+ years of Big 1.o experience in our starting lineup we'd find a happy medium between being soft and whacking the **** out of teams.
