I'm not sure how that helps, respectively. Isn't a good shooter, not a good ball handler, very average defender, not a great athlete.

But, I'll listen....  why should Leal get mins and who's?

I get it; he's a "do no harm" player.

I think that a significant portion of our fanbase is tired of our bench f'ing things up and therefore a do no harm player is appealing.

While I get it, it's not my first choice.

If it were up to me?

I'd start:

  • Xavier
  • CJ
  • Mack
  • Malik
  • KelEl

and play Gallo a ton of minutes as the sixth man. With Walker as the seventh man and very few minutes for anyone else.

I guess I prefer Gallo because he pushes it and is crafty.  He gets in the lane and creates for himself or others.  Him off the ball running around the perimeter hoisting jumpers is not good.  The problem is he doesn’t have a wing man.  That’s why I say pair him with Gunn and give Gunn a real look with the starters and see what happens.  Maybe it works and maybe it doesn’t.

X is fast but he often walks the ball up and doesn’t find people like he should outside of the stretch he had the last couple of years throwing up lobs to TJD.  I’m not against X personally, but with all the immature acts let him come off the bench and see if my lineup works.  Well, maybe I am against X the more I think about it.  I could do without him laughing after putting up an air ball at the free throw line.  Get upset, slam the ball, do something, but laughing it up pretty much sums up who he is.

yeah, I do too.

I have no issue with AL seeing 5-8 mins a game, never did. I don't fancy that a remedy though.

Because he's played well every time he's gotten minutes. Gunn, Banks, Galloway, Johnson, Mack are better athletes and are also very average defenders. And he's as good a ball handler as Gunn or Banks and makes less dumb decisions than Johnson or Galloway.

Leal is like the backup QB for a crappy team. Fans are always like put in the backup and see what he can do. He can't do any worse. Well, actually he can. The other team starts to expose you the more you play backup players.

I can't wrap my head around X's play.  His best attribute is his speed but he walks the ball up. Takes 15 seconds getting guys into position to run a set.  It just looks so unnatural.  X should be playing a breakneck/pressing style. Same with Gunn really.  But if we try (and we don't much) our turnovers likely go through the roof and our fouls get even dumber.

I want to watch 5-10 minutes of game action with freedom of play offensively.  Transition first thought and stonecold aggressive defense.  maybe it completely fails but it seems to match X and Gunn's game best.  Get Ware involved like Crean used to get Zeller involved in running the floor in transition.

Anyway, X is kind of a sensitive guy.  I think deep down he wants everything we want.  I think he's thinking too much.  I think his game would improve with just going back to playing basketball.

Dude, you went to see the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie. What did you think my kids were going to do when they saw Tay-Tay? BTW, thanks for the friendship bracelet. I didn't realize that you were such a Swiftie.

I also don’t like people who break the TAT TAY code that whatever happens in the Eras movie tour stays in the Eras movie tour. You just became my “Anti Hero” and “Don’t blame me” when “August” hits and you receive a restraining order.

Except for the fact he plays well and is literally the only vocal leader that ever goes in the game.

He's allowed to make mistake after mistake and he's never relegated to the pine. CJ Gunn misses a shot and he's taken right out of the game.

I don't think the misses are why CJ is taken out.  If it is, he certainly doesn't show it cause he still shoots like a wild man.    It's more the fact that he takes stupid shots.

As opposed to stupid turnovers?

We define playing well differently. I watch his man blow past him, I watch him pass up open shots, He can't handle the ball, and doesn't rebound very well. He does communicate well so I'll give him that. Hopefully, he goes to Evansville or some place like that and has a nice last season.

I'll take Leal over X most of the time. Because 0 is better than negative and that's mainly what X has given us this season.

Leal definitely deserves more minutes, unfortunately, IMO, his defense, speed and footwork are his Achilles heal. He knows the game, sees the court and can shoot fairly well from the 3 (mainly when it's created for him). However, he needs to be good on both sides of the ball get larger chunks of minutes. At this point, why not give him a few more minutes?

Or he hits 5 threes tonight and is a hometown hero :-)

The excuses of he passes up shots, he gets blown by, he doesn't rebound..  I don't know if you've noticed or not, but that describes literally everyone playing ahead of him. So yea I'll take a guy who at least communicates, hustles, swings the ball, moves on offense and actually gives a damn to put on an Indiana jersey for more than just the money they are getting.

I think 90% of people here could coach just as well. People get tricked by him being an NBA coach and blah blah blah. But he isn't a good coach. That's pretty evident. I think 90% on this board wouldn't continue every game making the same stupid mistake of subbing out 4 dudes because it never works.
