Big needs to start the BTT a day earlier and end on Saturday.  Or do away with four double byes and four first round games.  Perhaps two byes for top two teams, the other 12 start day one, four day tournament.  Whatever it takes to not play on Sunday.

Officiating in this tournament on every game I have seen is inconsistent and just awful, missed calls, bad calls, and just plain wrong calls.  Three flop calls in the IU-St. Mary's game (all legitimate), but so many other obvious flops in other games not called is one example. And the reviews are insufferable.  The call of a foul when Race was flung to the floor was reviewed for a possible flagarant, but then was reversed and a foul called on Race was a blatant error. There obviously has to be better training, consistency and qualifications for officiating, especially for those chosen for the tournament.

They need to start it about 4 days earlier. Allow teams to get rest before the tourney starts.

I believe Jalen Hood-Shifino is ranked like 20 on 247…..and he’s the top ranked Big Ten recruit. you are correct that it’s not getting the top recruits.

I’ve really never noticed or thought about recruiting disparity.
Has someone compared B1G’s recruits to other conferences over say the past decade? Does the B1G have fewer of the top recruits comparatively to other conferences consistently?

Just asking as I don’t know.
Either way I wholeheartedly agree the B1G needs to both change its style of allowing rougher play and provide a break between the conf tourney and ncaa tourney—

Glad we landed JHS, kid’s a baller

I would switch the Men’s and Women’s B1G Tournaments. Start the women’s B1G tourney on the Monday after the Mens Championship (moved to when the women’s is now).  Gives the Mens teams more than a week to rest and prepare even if they have to play the play in game. Shortens the time for the women’s teams so they aren’t off nearly two weeks before their NCAA tourney starts.

Man until purdue is gone I wouldn't be talking about how bad the big is. They probably win this year and screw everything up

Even if Purdue won the title, that's 1 team. You started with 9 and only 1 ended up in the Sweet 16. The ACC had 5 and has 3 in. That includes and 8 and 10 seed. Big Ten is feeling it real bad this year. About like last year.

Michigan made it as well. So big ten has 2, but yes I understand your point completely

I think at one point we did post a comparison of top recruits by conference and the Bug Ten was pretty far below.  The biggest difference was in that other P5 had their elite teams swallowing up multiple players per year (Duke, Kentucky, Kansas).  This upcoming year I believe Duke has 3 top ten players.

I also think we need a neutral board to talk about the big ten conference and see if collectively put pressure for the big ten to at least address the situation.  They have no accountability, so they’re just going to keep riding that gravy train of money.

Wasn’t that just so they could play it at Madison Square Garden? Believe the garden was booked for another conference tourney the regular Championship week.

MSG has hosted the Big East Tourney since its inception and I guess Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Prudential Center in Newark were underneath Delany.

If the rest of these Big Ten teams are performing this poorly, it just goes to show you how far we are from where we need to be.

It has always been that way. INDIANA is the big ten, as far as accomplishments.

in 1987 Indiana had 5 titles and the B1G had 2, then Michigan in '89, MSU in what 2000? Making it 5-4 Indiana, then Maryland beat Indiana for the title and once Maryland moved to B1G , that came with it and the rest of the conference became tied with Indiana 5-5.

It's Indiana being down that has caused the B1G to have few titles. It always been that way and no evidence against it yet.

I think all 3 of those had 3 mickey D's players, with the B1G having zero.

I thought it was 5-5 before the twerps joined the Big 1.o? MSU x2, Michigan, O$U, and Wiscy?

Isn't part of the problem having to accommodate 20 conference games, a direct of adding Rutgers and Maryland?
Not sure? Just know they did it a week early recently with rutgers and Maryland involved. Have to ask the decision makers to find out. I bet someone could find a article of why it didn't stick
