I don’t doubt the analysis, but I’m trying to think of tourney type teams we won comfortably against. ND comes to mind. We tend to make everything a slog, which isn’t all that uncommon for teams who primarily rely of defense.

Wyoming is similar in that respect.  Their tournament team results:

79-66 win over Cal St Fullerton (although that's an auto bid, wouldn't make the tourney without team

94-65 loss to Arizona

65-62 loss at Boise St

84-78 home OT loss to Colorado St

72-65 home win against Boise St

61-55 loss at Colorado St

73-66 home loss to San Diego St

68-61 conference tourney loss to Boise St

That's a 2-6 record against tournament teams and that includes Cal St Fullerton.  But other than Arizona, those losses are close.

For the record, IU was 5-10 against tournament teams.

Apparently he was a starter for a while and lost it

He became a starter with Xavier Dusell went down to injury.  Dusell came back after 4 games and didn't get reinserted into the starting lineup until 8 games later.

Dusell is better than Wenzel (the player who got injured).  If Wenzel is hurt, it's not a big loss from a talent standpoint, but it is from a depth standpoint.  They aren;'t deep.

Just a really tough draw for us logistics wise. Arrive at Dayton today, practice tonight.
- Play tomorrow night at 9PM EST
- If we win, board the charter plane around 12:30-1AM EST.
- Arrive in Portland around 2AM PST
- Play at 4:20 PST on Thursday.

Yikes.
Wyoming has to travel to Dayton so in that regard logistics are in our favor. After that I agree not ideal

Yikes.

These are college kids.  It's probably better to have a tight schedule, less distractions.  They could play on no sleep if they had to.

I don't care how old they are, that's a lot of traveling in a small window, that can wear a person out.

That’s what I mean, since I heard they are not extremely deep

From what I can tell this is a good matchup for us.  Their strengths on offense seem to run right into our strengths on defense.  They are also an average defensive team.  I think we win this comfortably.

To the extent it’s possible I think you’re both right. The good thing about a team with IU’s profile is you tend to keep every game close. The bad news is unless you get some uncharacteristically hot 3 point shooting, you don’t run away with it.

If — big if — IU can adequately guard Maldonado, I think it’s possible they chop wood and win by 7-10.

It's definitely better to have not traveled.  At least it's a late afternoon game on Thursday if we get there.  Not sure that traveling to, say, New York and having an 11 o'clock game would be better.

Does truTV have any programs besides Impractical Jokers?

Do they need anything else?

Actually seems like they have three shows:  Impractical Jokers, Carbanaro Effect, and World's Dumbest.  But seems like it's about 12 hours of Impractical Jokers per day.

IF...another big if, our bench, incl Bates et al can play well, we could run them into the ground. Supposedly they only play 6 guys.

We only really played 7 against Iowa.  We could use JG.

FWIW, the big man that will come in with Ike is out is Hunter Thompson.  He started for three years before being moved to the bench this year.  6'10" who tends to hang out on the perimeter and rarely shoots inside.  Bad rebounder and defender but can shoot some.  Evan Fitzner clone.  Would think if he's in that may be when TJD gets a rest;  if not, I doubt TJD is on him.  As much as Maldanado likes to post up I could even see TJD guard him when Ike is out with Race on Hunter THompson.

Luckily it's spring break for IU now.

But flying on a small plane for 5 hours isn't good for any athlete. Especially at 2AM.
