I don't think Trayce needs to be surrounded by great players to be successfuly. Trayce needs leaders around him. He needs another great player or two. The entire program needs players that have defined roles and star in that role. We don't have that. Leadership101 includes planning and defining roles, we failed miserable.

Kopp is kind of a shooter that was told he could expand his game here. What is the impact of his expanded game? How did that impact winning?

Race is a tweener that doesn't pair well with Trayce in the modern game. What was the plan to impact winning?

P Stew is/was a shooter that didn't have enough run for him most of the season. He's gotten more shots recently but shooting at a horrendous percentage. What was the plan to impact winning?

X has some tools to lead. How was that groomed to impact winning this season? He's played better recently but we needed that at the beginning of the season.

Trayce is what he is at this point in his career. A jumper and counter moves would have been fantastic but players playing their role would have impacted winning more.

I agree a lot of mistakes were made this season and even more were made last summer. We need a much better off-season to impact winning next season.

TJD to me is great with his left hand, still can't go right, has trouble dribbling, has no jumper, and FT's are average.

Kopp is a 33% 3 point shooter for his career. I think we all or at least myself thought he was better than that.

Pstew I don't even want to go there, just move on.

X game is all in his head, there is a reason he led CBB in T's last season and quit during the season. If you get the good X then he's really good but you just don't know what you're going to get. I would welcome him back next year.

Agree about last summer, and also this summer. I think we listened to one of the assistants way too much about some of these players. We wanted to hurry to fill out the roster when we should have gotten a shooter. We really need a shooter or shooters this off-season.

Some, myself included, have felt the passion draining. I just cant get into it as much anymore. Wish I could but it's just too disappointing. IU basketball used to be appointment viewing for me. The world stopped for 2 hours. Now it's just something to do if there is nothing else (which isn't common). I hate that this has happened. But idk maybe it's better not to be so emotionally invented in something that constantly let's you down.

Was this during the Knight years?

Just to correct this, IU wasn't paying any coach 7 million a year. IU was going to pay 3.5-4 million a year and a booster was going to pay the rest. That was for Stevens only. Now could the booster have been talked into paying that for another top coach, maybe but from speaking to agents there wasn't anyone else interested to pay that much. That is why Woodson was "the only one" interviewed & is only getting 3.5 a season.

Do you think they would've fired Archie with that buyout if they knew they were going to end up with Woodson?  They must have really thought they were getting Stevens for some reason.

It's been covered many times and I will get blasted for it but yes it was something like that. But I think a lot of people players, boosters were not happy with how Archie treated everyone. He wasn't mean, he's just not that type of person.

You’ve said before that we asked around and several prominent names shot us down, right?

If we were only going to pay the guy $3.5-$4 million a year, us getting shot down by top guys makes a ton of sense. Why leave a nice spot for a comparable salary? It wouldn’t be a good decision. If we were offering $7 million a year and no one wanted the job, that’s depressing as hell. That’d be a substantial raise for almost any coach in college bball. But I’m not surprised we weren’t offering that much and that no one wanted to come for a middle of the road salary.

I believe we reached out to agents of top college coaches Beard, Oats, Musselman, even Drew. They didn't have any interest so I don't think salary was ever discussed. That's why I say if one of them might have had interest, we could have gone back to the booster who was putting up the Stevens money to say we need this for this coach too.

Unfortunately I only got to see the tail end of the Knight era. My formative years were Davis. I think the passion was just being raised in an IU household that made it a big deal. Now that I have the responsibilities of an adult, it's easier to find other obligations. Again, wish I didnt have to. But the product has been disappointing almost every year.

The track record of NBA guys to college is pathetic.  Avery Johnson, Ewing, Stackhouse, Penny, Manning, Mullins.  Who am I missing?

Oh I totally get it. My wife during the first half last night said you mind if I go upstairs and watch Teen mom 2 instead. The last 2 seasons has taken it's toll on me too

Sidney Lowe. Fred Hoiberg.

Lowe, Ewing, Penny and Mullin were enlisted to "rescue" their alma maters. But I believe among that group, only Johnson, Lowe and Hoiberg were NBA head coaches. Well ... and Woody, too.

Hoiberg was a college HC, then went to the NBA, then returned to college. So far, his second go-round isn't faring well.

This shot was so much worse than I remembered last night. We let him trot down the court, made no attempt to double team him, pressure him, etc., and he just dribbled into a 3. We played it with no desperation. No sense of urgency. You’d think it was the middle of the first half, not 10 seconds left in the second half of a tie game.

Wow, that was dumb.

Ron Harper Jr is selling these today

What's market value? Maybe we could report him...

I wish the Crimson Clown Collective or whoever the IU NIL dudes are would have trademarked a bunch of phrases to collect royalties for things like this. At least our players could have profited a little after they get punked.

Look what happened at Cuse when we tried to pressure...

You have to have a connected team when trying to win games. We have a collection of decent to above average players that the sum is rarely greater than the parts.
