Five Prime

2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

Recommended Posts

Rob is a good guy who worked hard but suffered too many injuries. Too bad he couldn't shoot all the time like he did against Purdue. I doubt Archie wants him. Archie was always trying to recruit a higher rated point guard.

With Lander and Phin moving on, I believe that the shortest scholarship player we have is X at 6'3".  Trey is 6'4". but I believe everyone else is 6'5" or taller.  I believe that was a point of emphasis in what the staff wanted to do in terms of roster construction.

Leal and Galloway are both listed at 6'5.  I don't expect those measurements to be exact (when I was in school I know the coach would add an inch or so in height, even heard him admit that), didn't think Leal was that tall though.

True but in 2023 we bring in Maybe-ish 6’2” and 6’3” so they don’t have a threshold entirely.

We measured in shoes. I know you play in shoes, of course, but there’s an easy inch.

a good reminder, though I’d add you need some depth for the regular season due to injuries, so it’s nice if your 9th, 10th guy can play enough (or are specialists, like a big body for the Edeys and Kofis).

To that end, I think a core of X, JHS, Trey, Bates, Kopp, Geronimo, and one or more of Race/TJD/transfer big is a good nucleus. Leaves ~four or five grants for youngsters who need some seasoning.

That wouldn't necessarily be a tall, long, or good shooting team as constructed. If they went full chaotic defense mode it has the potential to be fun to watch.

I was going off of ITH listings -- Galloway was listed as 6'4" there.  Same on ESPN.  On the Hoosiers website he's listed at 6'5", so there certainly is a descrepancy.

Good catch.

I would guess you basically have to be a pg at that height for CMW, and/or have plus wingspan.

Realistic, but not a lot of shooting there. Not sure about JHS of course, but none of the rest give me confidence

Geronimo is going to be an all out beast. I’d bank on a big step from Bates, kid’s uber talented and can shoot, hope to see better shooting from Galloway. Would like to add a guy who can create his outside shot, but do think Bates will be knocking them down as a soph, and Geronimo has a good shot, expect more looks

I think shooting is a fair concern here but also agree that it’s fair to be optimistic about development or simply better performance from guys with the background you mention. Yogi’s freshman to sophomore improvement is an unrealistic expectation but it’s not uncommon to see good shooters struggle as frosh or in limited minutes.

Would add that a more specialized role for Kopp, next to a better secondary ballhandler, probably creates some chances, and Leal could become a reliable catch-and-shoot guy though I didn’t mention him.

Geronimo is not Keegan Murray, but he’s also not - not Keegan Murray. If you know what I mean.
