We'd probably have to offer Murray $1M+ to even get him to think about it. He's making $750K at UConn.

Assuming he doesn't take a HC job somewhere, of course.

He's also born and raised in the Connecticut area too. Went to high school and college in Connecticut, and spent a few years coaching elsewhere in the state too.

I'd have to think that's worth an extra $250K to him but I could be wrong.

I’d consider it legging out a triple.

Drew would have been an inside-the-park HR, yeah I can get down with TJ O as a triple.... a leadoff triple when the games tied in the 9th, but yeah, a triple.

If you think of hires as parallels of past ones, we’ve made the various Stevens comparisons: Cal to UK, Pitino to UL.

I think CrimsonCast made the best comparison I can think of for Otz: it’s roughly Self to Kansas. Established coach who’s done well at a good program moving to a blue blood.

That sounds true. Still think Self is underrated, with the work he did at Tulsa before Illinois.

The only concern at all would be the offense.  Seems somewhat similar to Sampson in coaching style.  Is that accurate?

That’s my impression after watching a handful of games. So I am nobody’s expert on Otz. I think he’d be successful. I think a guy like that could definitely pull something on the continuum Sampson to Jim Boheim and be here 20-30 yrs and maybe win one title with a handful of FFs.  If that’s even possible at IU.

I do appreciate teams that play hard. Like 90th percentile of effort in D1.
