General Coach Candidate News

That is total garbage about McCollum needing coordinators. He has been a HC for 15 years and basketball isn't that hard so if you can coach you can do it at any level. Also John Beilein hired an assistant to take over his defense because their defense wasn't good. So if a great coach like that hires a coordinator so to me that isn't a bad thing.

What he would need some help with is the NIL and the portal which is why you need to hire a GM. I would say that no matter who the coach is because it is to much work for the HC.

Hell, I’ve been saying this for years. There are more staff than players these days anyway. They are all assisting the coach. I don’t know why this would shock anyone.

I think if Rabby is saying there’s a ton of smoke behind McCollum then that’s likely the case. He doesn’t gamble much with this stuff.

However, Rabby has to start gambling at some point. He's got to show his subscribers that he "knows" something. With how quite things have been in this search, he's probably feeling the heat.

Things have been quite, I’m just not sure quite what

;)

I don’t disagree. He’s been way behind on this search. However, I don’t think he’s going down this path unless he knows something. It’s not his style.

Yup. Done a good bit of research.

In this day and age? You can’t teach a great recruiter how to coach. But if you find a great coach that doesn’t know how to recruit? You can buy that coach a roster.

But...the pieces need to fit, somewhat!

I’d love for you to be right. However, I don’t think the athletic department would go into the effort to create these false narratives. If it was done, Dolson could legitimately not do a think until it was ready to be announced.
I’d put my money on McCollum with all of the smoke surrounding him.

But what has Dolson done? Answered a question about someone he interviewed?

I have serious doubts that Scott answered any questions about anyone that he may have interviewed.

Did you come across any info about his need for offensive and defensive coordinators?

Lot of ole timers in the barbershop **** talk on McCollum in here. Just like there was back in early 70s at the actual barbershop  back when Knight was hired from Army.  It does happen. Worst case? We pass up a McDermott? Brownell? Both will be there in 4 years trust me. Best case, BM continues his current upward trend and becomes a legend. It’s as much a fantasy as Brad Stevens coaching IU. Just saying. Good fan fiction to think about though.

Man, I can't believe we actually hired a no name coach from a military school with a career .671 record who never made the tournament and never did better than third in the NIT with 6 years as a coach! And he didn't even make any tournament in the year before we hired him! What a mistake of epic proportions that turned out to be....

where’s sconnie? FranCon just got himself ejected.

Yep, Iowa was getting curb stomped by Illinois, and Fran pulled a Woody... 2 Ts in 5 seconds... I guess there are some words that will do that. :D

So Fran is done with the B1GT, and maybe with the B1G...
