Would be surprised if it’s McCollum…I suppose if we’re left at the alter and since he’s not even Iowa’s first choice it might happen…but not there yet. I think a lot of things would need to happen for him to be our next coach.

Why would you be unhappy to say this because this would be a very good hire. If all the realistic candidates he would be on the top of my list

I definitely believe McCollum has said yes behind the scenes in case our top targets strike out. That would make more sense to me versus Dolson 100% locking in on him with everyone saying he “has his guy.”

Yup. Someone said he might end up going to Penn….also tells you that if someone wants Iowa over Indiana…then they’re probably not built for this job. You have to embrace Indiana and the fishbowl it is…but again, supposedly Mccollum isn’t even Iowas first choice.

DeVries is regarded as the top choice for Iowa with Mcollum and others as a back up

I wouldn’t be surprised actually… him and Cignetti are Very similar minus the D2 vs lower D1. They both win, they are both very confident in themselves, they know exactly how they want to coach and only bring in players who will buy into thier system, and I’ve even seen Cig respond to people on Social media about coaching so if McCollum does that too it’s just probably in their DNA to defend themselves.

Sounds like a repeat of 2021 where Dolson puts all his eggs in the pie in the sky Hail Mary basket and then we’re left with an underwhelming hire when that doesn’t work out. At least McCollum has coached college basketball.

Actually he and Cignetti are not very similar…which has been covered extensively by others already here. also Indiana basketball is not Indiana football. It’s apples to oranges.

This board is bipolar . Literally multiple insiders come on here and alludes to Stevens , posts Florida GIFs about planes and a meeting . Even years and numbers . 
 

then bam 9 AM now we’re battling a cellar Dweller conference school for a D2 coach . Awesome stuff 

can’t wait for this coaching search to be over !

Who is the big fish? Unless you’re still talking about Stevens but the way you worded it makes me think you’re talking about someone else. I weirdly would be ok with it being someone like Self who is ready for a change, Few, or someone that caliber of coach.
