If I showed you that resume with any other name attached to it, people wouldn't get nearly as excited as they do when it's Chris Beard. And that's before we even get into the baggage.

This is not an endorsement of Beard (I am not a fan of the hire because of what I perceive to be untreated alcohol abuse problems), but the record of a coach needs to be judged in the context of the program it was accomplished at.

Just like I give a ton of credit to Collins, Brownell, Schertz, and Devries for overachieving relative to their school's potential, Beard's record is really good in context of schools like Ole Miss, and Texas Tech when he began there..

That's fair. Although I'd point out that McCasland's success at TTU suggests that it's not such a difficult place to win at after all, making Beard's final two seasons there more concerning.

The Knight comment…..We need a reboot of this program.  Just ditch the past and move on.  It’s holding us back.  That’s my point.  No one should give two craps whether a coach is associated with Knight.  It shouldn’t even be a criteria.  

Just curious, what connections did Sampson, Crean, or Archie Miller have to the past??  Or to Knight??

Yes. People also say “you are what your record says you are” about Collins all the time. When context is convenient for their narrative, people shout it from the rooftops. When context is inconvenient for their narrative, people ignore it. Lol

My point is that both context and the total record are relevant. It's a balancing test with many, many factors. 

My summary point about Beard (or others) is that if we are only judging a coach's record by objective wins/losses or only by context, we are missing a good part of the relevant information.

If you can get Beard for maybe 4 million then try to run it by the president. But both know their jobs would be on the line. I've already heard of professors on campus who said they would have people follow him around town taking pictures of him getting drunk like he still does in Oxford. He would make it through the football season. It's a no go

If only the world were as reasonable and intellectually efficient as us and the rest of BTB, Stu… there’d be everlasting peace and no more hunger…

Good lord, not sure if it's an issue with others, but I know my wife would still **** me even if I rooted for Beard. 

But she also doesn't think a man should have to get the **** beat out of him and let it happen just because of the gender of the one who's laying the @$$ whoopin. 

1 full week of Cronin, Turgeon wasn't enjoyable for alot of people either. But, we went through it

Yea.  Isaac’s made up stuff made it to the Trilly discord in like two seconds.  It’s hard to believe anything that shows up on there.  For instance yesterday there were all those Otz rumors… almost certainly all nonsense and noise.
