Please don't tell me IU is willing to pay $9M+ for Stevens but since he won't be the coach they're going to go cheap on salary for everyone else. Otzelberger is making $4M now. If they really want him, something like $5M might not be enough to pull him away. It would be a lot harder to say no to $6-7M.

If IU wants a quality coach, make it very hard for them to say no. I doubt they'll do that.

An Ole Miss source said it was common knowledge that to this day, Beard is out and about drinking in Oxford. He must reform himself daily if that’s the case.

The donors want the sexy hire.  Would probably be hard to get them to pony up for anyone else.

I was in on Beard for a while but yeah - all these reports of him consistently going out and drinking is enough for me to pass on him. Bloomington is not the place for him.

I am assuming it won’t be Stevens, May, Beard, Drew, Otz, McDermott, McCasland, Cronin, Buzz, Collins, Schertz, Byington or Pitino Jr. 

Probably not McCollum or Calhoun.

DeVries, I’d like the hire a lot, but can’t really see it happening. If Brownell makes a deep March run, he’d be far and away the betting favorite IMO. If they do make the second weekend or further and we haven’t announced someone else yet, I think the speculation will be super high about him taking this job. Can’t wait for the first weekend of the tournament.

If it isn't Stevens, Drew or McCollum I think Dolson takes down his morals some and throws Beard a bone. No way we hire Brownell....the dude was on the hot seat at Clemson like two years ago!

Interesting counterfactual. He also wouldn’t have had the timing of his son, who I thought dragged those UCLA teams down a little. Kid could shoot (duh) but couldn’t guard a lamppost. Lots of talent on those teams too, but it seems everyone can recruit to UCLA. 

Same mistake as Hoiberg. His son definitely isn’t a P5 player. Gets 30 mpg. Averages 3/2/2
