Say what?

“Brad Stevens over last 380 days: 7 contract extensions $1 billion in money Add Al Horford in 2022, and every player in Boston’s top 8 has received an extension. Add Marcus Smart, Rob Williams, and Josh Richardson, and Brad since taking over as GM: 11 extensions, $1.2 billion”

But anymore those AAU tournaments are only like 4 weekends a year and with the portal you can just kind of follow the 5 stars

And for all we know, Brad might love doing that. There is people in this world that love finding, mentoring and teaching young kids.

Could argue that’s why Bob Myers retired from his role with the Warriors at 47 years old.

A reason I've kinda thought Brad seems possible aside from what Chris/Jerry/RTZ/AP post, I sneaky think the Celtics might have to make some big roster moves the next few years (maybe not Tatum/Brown, but White/Holiday/Porzingis all making big money) and Brad might want to dip a little early like Bob with the Warriors or Theo with the Cubs. All the NBA teams have been pretty scared about the luxury tax with the new CBA and although the Celtics don't pay anything too crazy this year in penalties ($60M or so), next year they are on pace to pay around $250M. Bobby Marks has talked about how the Celtics are on pace to be the first $500M basketball team next season (payroll+lux tax penalties) too. Maybe their ownership would be willing to pay huge penalties for multiple years, but feel like there are many who clearly do not. Same way Myers left a year after a championship and before having to be the guy to let a Splash Brother walk (even if Klay isn't really the same Klay anymore) or Theo left the Cubs when it was becoming clear big changes were coming, curious if he would view this as a way to do the same.

Could be wishful thinking, but when teams like TWolves are trading KAT for lux tax flexibility or the Mavs being scared of Luka long term on the payroll, makes me wonder if that comes into play weighing options

I don’t think what they have done to date with extensions is his challenge but this new salary cap limit that starts next year.  It is not like the old cap where you could pay a little bit in penalty tax. Now if over it is very punitive. Others have the exact details.

Now, if only there was a team that you were able to spend more than a majority of your competitors and not be penalized.  I know a place.

Yep, and I get it, I’d initially be underwhelmed too with all the names being floated and not having P5 experience.  But he’s a Cig type hire and a hell of a coach.  If UK and UL had to go down the list, why do we think we won’t have to?

This is the sort of candidate someone comes up with while vacationing in Aruba.

Just caught up on today's posts. To summarize:

Nothing has changed, no one knows anything.

I trust Scott Dolson to make the right hire but he's really not giving us message board geniuses much to work with.

We won’t know anything for another 2-3 weeks.

Brad is still traveling and evaluating, just on a much different level and a little more private compared to AAU events. He’s going to the Big Ten tourney, thanksgiving classics, etc,. Brad will be fine heading back on the recruiting trail, especially if NCAA starts approving 5-6 coaches on the road at once.
