False. Very few cases does a school have someone lined up. They could be in talks but nothing will be finalized. Especially if their targets are still coaching in conference tournaments or the NCAA tournament. If they are hiring someone in the NBA or not coaching that makes things easier in the sense that those guys would be more likely to openly negotiate.

I meant it as he needs to have a good idea of who is actually possible. Speaking to people and agents. If we're firing Archie and hiring a mid-major coach no one has mentioned here then why are we firing Archie?

Not sure if it's been discussed, but how would you all feel about CAM getting fired, and one of the assistants being named interim (either for next season, or just until we get our guy)?  Not advocating for or against, just trying to add a variable to the discussion.

I’d be pretty against it. I don’t think anyone on our bench has head coaching chops for a Mid major, let alone IU. Would just be another lost year

I think this could make the fan base angrier.

We can have people say anyone is better than Archie but firing Archie and not hiring at least a name people can Wikipedia. oh boy.

I have actually thought that is an option but then which assistant?  I think Ostrom is too close to Archie and therefore rules him out so IMO it's either Hunter or Roberts if that's a path Dolson would choose to follow.

I’m not sure it makes sense. We would be better off giving Archie approval to give it another year so we can keep recruiting and stay in the hunt. If the right guy is still in the wing for next season, we might as well let the buyout drop significantly. It’s not like Archie can’t coach, we just expected better results.

I wanted this 3 weeks ago. Said let Roberts carry the interim tag for rest of this season. As for next year? Idk I guess I'd be more for that than to see Archie's product on the court again.

It is false. the reason so many schools choose to hire search firms. It's not so that they can search for the coach. It's so they can negotiate legally. If IU hasn't hired a search firm which they likely won't until Archie has been dismissed or it's announced they are parting ways.

Last night (or the final game) will be it for Archie and Dolson is comfortable that there is interest in this job?.

My point is, they're likely already doing that. I say likely because I have no direct tie to the program other than season tickets. You don't vacate the head of any size program with no plan; I respectfully disagree that they'd fire then find a search committee. If CAM is done on our next loss and that decision has been made, all these things are already in motion and there's no way they're going to let the word get out on that. Including search committees, validating interest, etc. It's not a blind process.
