Am I missing something or was this fake? It’s dated tomorrow.

It wasn't fake.  I clicked in and saw it with my own eyes.  It was later removed from the site.

Is gp711 even remotely reliable?

His timeline is pretty short so we will find out. Many have pointed to the 17th as an important date. GP and Tony… and now perhaps BehindTheBench are indicating we are near the end of this. Hopefully we start hearing good things tomorrow or Monday

Long time lurker and finally signed up to post. 2002 grad, so I’ve lived through mostly bad hoops. IMO, we need a Beard or Wade to jumpstart this. Stop with the ‘Indiana guy’ or someone with the the appearance of being completely clean of any perceived wrongdoing. Time to win! Wade or Beard will win and are attainable. Brad, Otz, etc are not attainable.

Yea. We told on ourselves?!

To compare Sampson to these other transgressions is ridiculous. What Sampson did was a fraction of hiring strippers, paying students, covering up sexual assaults, fake classes which is what some of our rivals were doing.  Phone calls is not even in the same category. The irony of it all, is 99.9% of the time you would have never of heard about phone calls because the school wouldn’t have self reported.

and you know what? I wish our teams the last 10 years played with a fraction of the heart Houston teams play with. We’d get run off the floor cause those guys are the definition of grit.

And the very next year Sampson’s violations were no longer ncaa violations. He had pissed off the ncaa when he left okla while it was under investigation for his “sins”….
The real underlying problem with Sampson though was his disregard of academics (several players were failing) and the drug culture that surrounded his program. He’s a Hell of a coach but he wouldn’t have ended up being right for IU anyway (I say that while ducking, his x’s and o’s are outstanding). Hard to know what’s going on behind the scenes here in Houston, UH doesn’t have the same academic culture in its sports programs, and he may run his program differently now after all this time and the experience of a 5-year show cause and  assistant coaching in the League.

The academic issue is another misnomer. The grades were very good first semester. 2nd semester was a failure after the season went sideways because there was no more hope.. we don’t self report..there are no Fs

Like they go to class now. Somehow nobody is ever ineligible anymore. It's a joke.

The irony of it all, is 99.9% of the time you would have never of heard about phone calls because the school wouldn’t have self reported. We did, and therefore everyone heard about it….and then Myles Brand decided to screw the season and make it public right in the middle of league play…where we were something like 20-2 (man I would give to have a record like that again.)

and you know what? I wish our teams the last 10 years played with a fraction of the heart Houston teams play with. We’d get run off the floor cause those guys are the definition of grit and toughness. They play hard…something our teams have struggled doing.

Didn't Sampson run a team at Indiana that had drug dealers, and pimps on the team (legitimately) and had gotten so bad academically that we weren't going to be invited to post season tournaments?

See grade comments above. Yes…there were a mix of high character guys and low character guys on that team which was working itself out the following year. Obviously, it was a learning moment for him as none of his teams have had arrests or issues since. Something we can’t say…as we’ve had issues and arrests since Sampson.
