I think the takeaway is that what's been reported widely (McCollum and Brownell as main targets) is coming from the coaches' agents and not from the IU side. 

So whatever Dolson is doing has been to date very much under the radar and has not been reported on nationally.

Would a coaches agent leak that the ad is really impressed with the coach?  Seems weird but what do I know.

Yes. It's subjective and could have come from compliments in normal discussions. It's much more likely than the idea that Dolson told a reporter he's impressed with McCollum.

@Hoosier987 might have more intel but the consensus from plugged in folks has been that Iowa prefers DeVries and his additional D1/high major experience. He and McCollum are both from Iowa and have spent most of their careers there or in neighboring states.

Not sure Iowa will have the cash for DeVries or the donor NIL promises to get him, in which case they’ll pivot to McC, who would prefer that job to ours for location/pressure/institutional reasons that I don’t think IU can just choose to overcome.

Lloyd is one name out there that seems like a possible surprise candidate.  AZ isn’t in the best financial shape and Tommy supposedly doesn’t like his AD.  There are no good jobs in the PNW, so Tommy will have to stay far from home if he wants a big program.  This situation could have led Tommy to connect with Scott a while back and get this mostly wrapped up by the time Woody was fired.

I’m just guessing at some other angles that explain how quiet this search has been.

Here here.  McCollum the worst case is fine with me.  Hopefully Dolson can get the whale in the boat.  I've heard that's the hardest part.

Yes I would be, as long as it is only 1 lummox.  And he can step out to shoot, screen, pass, and roll to the basket.
