Blackhawks are in a tank-a-thon, but Bears finally are headed in the right direction (hopefully)

Says all of us Bears fans every year... until they kick it off... would love another run like '85... but ...

Mine is a former head basketball coach . He has a Tv set up every year in the teacher lounge .

My first year at the school he even came into my room and turned it on the old school TV I still have in my room to show me it still worked and I could watch it ! LOL he gets it!

....better yet,.....our entire high school has permission to have the IU game on during school time!! lol

We will be watching it on a big, pull down screen from my classroom ceiling projector.....:)

Isn’t it mostly off campus? Assistant could easily handle that for the time being.

Hell transfer portal dudes commit after and over Zoom calls these days .

Yes. And most if not the majority of the recruiting he'd be doing until his restrictions are lifted would be in the portal which don't typically require you to leave campus.

That would be catastrophic.  Will Wade would be the antithesis of Curt Cignetti.  Unlikable and just not a good guy.   Watch "The Scheme."  He comes across as a complete a$$hole and not a guy IU would support....at all.  No thank you.

This guy won the SEC in a very heated booster environment where fans are constantly unhappy. Brian Kelly can’t even do that there with all the resources and support given to him. He continued to win despite sanctions, investigations, and suspensions. Then he took the fall for several other big name coaches doing the same thing (we all know Self was named in that investigation, as was Pitino, as was Duke) because they had the most evidence. The fallout was ugly, he had to wait, and then he rebuilt himself again at McNeese, and had them in the tournament AGAIN in back to back years. The videos of his players and his manager are incredibly likable, and they’ve taken social media by storm. Those types of things speak for themselves in recruiting.

Let’s not forget that Coach Cig was very unlikable before he started winning. You can try to say that he was, but man did he put a target on his back in everyone else’s eyes. He still does, but do you hate it? No, because he’s your coach, you’re winning, and that’s outside noise

I would expect nothing less from a school in Morgan County Indiana . A county that has produced more College Basketball National title winning coaches than anywhere else on earth!!

Wade and Cignetti actually have very similar demeanors and levels of arrogance and cockiness to them. I love coaches with this kind of attitude. There's a ton of people (outside IU of course) who don't care for Curt Cignetti because of this.

There is a clip bouncing around of WW at a LSU presser where he sounds like a blend of Cig and Bobby

....Besides, who on this board besides you, obviously, cares anyway!

....I'm not getting into a pi$$n contest with you over anything related to a school that I could care less about.

Yes, Phog Arena is considered of the top 5 in the nation. MSG, Rupp Arena are considered by most if not all ahead of Phog.

IMO ....the only mecca is Assembly Hall, which was credited as one in the list greats.

I'm done,....the end.

GO IU, beat Oregon!

Illinois? No way! :D

So here's a question; is Self slowing down? How would we feel about Bill Self? Call me crazy, but I'm leery of him compared to the others on that list. Confident in Few, but IU would be a much bigger job than he's used to doing.

Think Stevens and Donovan would be obvious home runs.

Yikes.

Not sure at all about Self. To me he's like a Toyota with 350,000 miles. Yeah, it's a Toyota but I'd be concerned that it is approaching end of life.

So, are you saying that Mark Few is a necromancer? :D

Just how recent were these discussions?

They occurred before Knight passed away

Years ago I thought Gregg Marshall had the fire and spirit (similar to Coach Knight) IU needed to get back to national relevance . . . and then  . . . whew, glad IU didn't get caught up in that mess.

I used to go to a ton of UE games, often directly behind the opposing team's bench. When I tell you Marshall's wife was....something else. Holy cow. My Dad and I learned words from that lady I didn't even know existed. F'ing and m'fing the officials, opposing fans, and opposing players the entire game.
