I don't know who it's going to be but I'm confident that it's going to be someone who Scott absolutely believes will not tarnish the university, can recruit at the level we need, can consistently compete on the national stage, can withstand the fishbowl of IU and most importantly win. Dolson went with an older candidate in Cignetti. Greg McDermott is 61 in November. I think he would be a great fit. IUBtown 1

I don't think Stirtz is anymore than a 6th man/serviceable role player...at least on a team expected to contend for a B10 title. He's good in McCollum's system vs D2 and MVC caliber players. Some question him, which is understandable, but Scott really, really likes him and thinks he'd do well here. Has to be a 2-way street - meaning he would have to accept the job if offered - but Scott is talking to him - Jackal Why is he talking to him currently if he has his man or does he not? It's been completely silent. Utah, Miami, FSU have hired their coaches. Indiana is waiting. Then why are they reaching out to McCollum? Ctf9 1
MikeRoberts Posted March 10 Posted March 10 36 minutes ago, Chris007 said: But why would we still be interviewing guys? For many reasons but I'll leave it at that. You have a lot of wiggle room when you have a McCollum yes in your back pocket if anything happens. But there is no wiggle room, back pocket needed if you truly have a deal in place. If you just have a handshake then yes, backup plans are necessary CSP and Ctf9 2

BA47591 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 One thing mentioned during the Bradley game I thought was interesting. McCollum said at the beginning of the year that a good D2 player could compete at a mid-major D1 school. It gave me pause. How steep would the learning curve be for talent acquisition?
