This is going to be Dolson's legacy hire.  I don't know who it's going to be but I'm confident that it's going to be someone who Scott absolutely believes will not tarnish the university, can recruit at the level we need, can consistently compete on the national stage, can withstand the fishbowl of IU and most importantly win.

Dolson went with an older candidate in Cignetti.  Greg McDermott is 61 in November.  I think he would be a great fit.

I’m new here and only know a couple of the guys to trust, but I’m adding RTZ to that list under the assumption that this obviously means “Yes, the Stevens deal is done”.

You should look into  @IsaacTor then. He's got all the Stevens dish.

and if we added Bennett Stirtz we are a top 25 tomorrow, assuming we had a new HC.

I don't think Stirtz is anymore than a 6th man/serviceable role player...at least on a team expected to contend for a B10 title. He's good in McCollum's system vs D2 and MVC caliber players.

Mccollum was always going to get an interview, that's been the case for a while now. Some question him, which is understandable, but Scott really, really likes him and thinks he'd do well here. Has to be a 2-way street - meaning he would have to accept the job if offered - but Scott is talking to him

Why is he talking to him currently if he has his man or does he not?

Dolson has his guy, a search firm is totally normal, they've had one for each of the searches in the last 2 hires.

It's been completely silent. Utah, Miami, FSU have hired their coaches. Indiana is waiting.

Then why are they reaching out to McCollum?

But why would we still be interviewing guys? For many reasons but I'll leave it at that. You have a lot of wiggle room when you have a McCollum yes in your back pocket if anything happens.

But there is no wiggle room, back pocket needed if you truly have a deal in place. If you just have a handshake then yes, backup plans are necessary

That's honestly crazy to me. If you trade CMW and Mgbako for Stirtz and McCollum.....we are a top 25, at least.

Stirtz vs Kansas St--- 22p 4a 3s 8-13 FGs

vs Miami- 21p 6r 6a 8-17 FGs

vs Vandy- 16p 11a 5r 2s 5-14FGs

I'm not confident he wouldn't be our best player.

One thing mentioned during the Bradley game I thought was interesting.  McCollum said at the beginning of the year that a good D2 player could compete at a mid-major D1 school. It gave me pause. How steep would the learning curve be for talent acquisition?
