If you apply for a job, would you really know for sure if you’re being considered, or would the company doing the hiring know that?

I would say that it is more that those candidates are interested in the job

Huh?

You need confirmation bias at this point and are skeptical of anything you don’t want to believe.  I get it.

IU is very seriously considering Chris Beard. I’m not saying it’s a done deal. But people saying they won’t do it are just wrong. He is very much a candidate and at this point very much at the top of the list. I would say the reason it wouldn’t be Beard at this point is that he gets a better offer than that IU doesn’t offer.

What are you basing this on. Would need to know at least a little bit of the sources for this even if not specific

So he is basically announcing to the world he knows nothing. Has nothing.  Is nothing.

Not at all. He thinks Beard is the best coach we're going to be able to get, but doesn't think we'll hire him. Time will tell on the first part, but I agree on the second part.

I think his take on the search at this point is just as, if not more, credible than anything else I've heard to date, given his connections.

Um, no.  I’m not sure what you think I’m biased about.  I do happen to understand what evidence is, which is pretty hard for some people these days.

Look, I heard from a donor a claim that Beard was being considered two weeks ago.  I sent a DM about it to one of the insiders here.  I know exactly where it’s coming from.  Haven’t seen any evidence to confirm whether it’s real or a misdirection.

No one here shares their sources.

Not asking for a name but some context for how you derive this. I know how enough about how the others build confidence in the Stevens angle to follow for that but nothing on this perspective other than he is a top candidate from you.

I think a lot of people myself included just believe that if we get to a point where Collins or Brownell are serious contenders, why not just take the chance on lightning in a bottle with McCollum. Worst case either way we do this again in four years. It's why I would prefer Cronin, just proven stability. Brownell or Collins do not provide that kind of guarantee. If we cannot hire someone who is, why not take a shot on someone winning 80% of their games. For Dolson, a gamble on Brownell or Collins being exactly what they have been at the high major level and him getting fired seem just as good as McCollum being crazy good and Dolson getting a lifetime contract. JMO
If we get to that point it's clear this program really has hit rock bottom.

Yeah, this will always be the place to come for hard evidence.  I agree.  Personal bias.  Every person has it.  It turns into confirmation bias, which it seems you are looking for.  That’s what I meant.  Nothing too deep.  Not trying to offend with it, but you come to a place like this for evidence and get frustrated and shoot others down if they don’t provide evidence?  Just doesn’t make a ton of sense.

He is absolutely being considered as a candidate. You don’t have to believe me. I’m ok with it.

But Archie had also recruited All American type players as a top assistant. That’s the part that’s hard to project with McCollum. (Personally I’m willing to risk it.)
The mccollum love because he won at d2 still is baffling given our need to win big right away. I kind of wish cig never happened it really seems to have convinced some McCullough is a sure thing

Yeah, in that situation, you will always be skeptical as you don’t sit in on those meetings.  As a skeptic, what is the point coming to a place like this to have these discussions?  You expect IU79887 to carry a tape recorder to have those discussions?  So you can have your, hard evidence.

No, but I can evaluate the source and determine how likely it is they know who we are looking at, and VERY IMPORTANTLY, if they did know, would they give that information out to someone or just throw some names out as misdirection.

He’s a phenomenal coach and an A+ hire from a basketball perspective. He is also very much not the guy I’d prefer to be the face of the school.

Good thing we have Cignetti as the newly minted face of the university. I’m not sure any hire we make will unseat him as such.
