Worrying about what others post as an emoji on a free message board is a tough way to go on a message board.    I’m guessing most posters give 2 craps what other people think of their posts I know I don’t.  I post my thoughts and move on if people agree cool if not that’s fine also.  I know what kind of platform I’m posting on I know this isn’t some high school debate team where a long thought out  discussion or debate is going to happen.   Looking for that here isnt going happen especially when the team in question is playing line they are.

Saw this thread bumped and thought, wow, someone else paying attention to transfers already. Definitely appears to have gone another way. 
Anyhoo, this one will be an interesting one to follow. Has apparently been 1 of the best players in the Sun Belt as a Frosh, but whatever got him bounced was a real issue. Will be curious to see who talks themselves into a kid with 3 years of eligibility.

I decided to go back and read from March on in this thread last night. 

I have been wrong plenty of times. Get that out of the way first. But some of you are so sure of yourselves, yet if you read back on some of these takes you all had here, WOW. I didn’t quote all them but seriously, it is a VERY interesting read.

Few highlights - and many of these are from posters that love to show their knowledge. Many of these takes had tons of likes and agreements. 

- we are LOADED at guard - in fact, PG is so loaded with Cupps we shouldn’t even be wasting scholarships on it.

- X, Trey and Cupps is 3 PGs - you can’t even get another veteran PG if you tried (hmmm, funny that is considered crazy now as the reason we didn’t)

- Cupps will be better than Yogi freshman year

- we are stacked at guard and need post players. We are loosing so much scoring Woody has to focus on the post. We are fine at guard. 

- Sparks is enough. Very talented D1 starter who will get his 20 mpg and we should not look for more. (This was prior to Ware and posters saying we should be done)

- lots and lots of players called out going into portal that are blowing it up this year that a chorus of posters dismissed as not good enough for IU or Big Ten.

- Cupps is better than Bradon Smith and isn’t even close. 

- Gunn and Banks are very intriguing as starters for us next year. With those guys, X, Trey, Malik, add Cupps we are one wing in player away from a top 25 team. Lots of agreement on that front. That was prior to MM or Ware.

There were a few takes that worried about double post, etc but if I was to grade it. This board got a D on seeing the gaps. how players were graded and roster construction needs.

The general feeling outside of a very select few was out guard situation was loaded. Zero need for more and we had plenty of returning talent. The hope and consensus was Malik can and should play the 5 (if Malik played the 5 this year we get murdered more than we have)

who knows what will happen with the staff and roster but maybe, just maybe we can all be a little more humble vs being so damn sure we know better. 

P.S. - if I was to pick a winner after reading back over all of this speculation on roster building, projecting of players etc @Loaded Chicken Sandwich was the most spot on. Some of you had takes you may want to delete haha - don’t be too happy LCS - you loved you some Banks and Gunn. 

News flash - off season hype and s#!t talking about rivals happens every year.

What also happens every year is that individual players tend to not conform to preseason expectations for good or for bad. As does the team as a whole. People change their minds based on the actual results on the floor. Unfortunately for IU, the team results have underperformed expectations because so have many players. This has been going on for a while.

He had several offers from P5 teams (Georgia Tech, Arizona State, Boston College, DePaul)...signed at Old Dominion and ended up getting kicked off for "conduct unbecoming a Monarch" in late January.  Haven't found anywhere what the infraction was.

Well, they are 6-20.  Jeff Jones coaches there (coached at Virginia at one point) and in his ten years there this is by far his worst team.  If the kid's a headache, he probably feels they can lose with or without him.

He had a heart attack in December in Hawaii at the Rainbow classic. He stepped away for the year to recover

So you're insulting this entire board and expecting people to say you're right? Also, none of those takes were the majority. Then backhand compliments to LCS? Dantwan Grimes (Baylor) entered the transfer portal on January 10th.  Came to Baylor this year from a JUCO and although minutes were limited, played pretty well when he got in.  100 minutes over 12 games, averaged 4.7 points and was 18 of 30 from the floor and 8 of 12 from three.  Announced he is transferring to Southeast Louisiana.

Top 150 2023 prospect has left Memphis and will be entering the portal.  Only played 6 minutes total at Memphis.

I was talking to a buddy about this yesterday.  If you want to play MGbako, Cupps ( defensive liabilities) and Ware, Reneau, also defensive liabilities in a different way, zone was the only option imo.
