And Race has shown the ability to hit from outside, now he’ll play on an offense and under a coach who pushes that. Race has the tools imo and his demonstrated all around game is simply better

He was regarded as a shooter in high school

You may be right about the stroke playing. It’s gonna have to. But he’s 6-25 from 3 over 2 years, on wide open looks, and he’s a low 60’s ft shooter. So he hasn’t shown it at all. Hopefully he evolves like Max Bielfeldt, but there’s no actual game production to suggest it. It’s pure projection on our part.

I thought Emoni Bates decommitted months ago? In any event, slim chance he ever plays college ball.

That was a different player -- Enoch Boakye (2022), five star center, decommited from Michigan State in February.  He is ranked around 20th.  As of the beginning of February, they had the #1 and #20 recruits in 2022....and both have decomitted.

Rupp Rafters is hilarious right now. Talks of “we need to start paying players.” Absolutely delusional.

“NCAA is an absolute laughing stock. Coaches caught by the FBI and still allowed to coach, recruit and compete in the NCAAT. Of course part of it is the AD and school administrators for having little to no ethics or integrity. Lawyer up and deny any wrongdoing. What a joke!!!”

“I don’t necessarily care about this recruit but if NCAA is just gonna let everyone cheat, f it, let’s even the playing field with some Kentucky/horses/bourbon/etc. $$$$”

“I’m sorry but with the spineless NCAA we need to start to pay dudes if that’s what it takes. I’m sick of seeing LSU get on everybody’s list because they pay whatever it takes.”

Truly some banner days on Rupp these days between this and the Nolan Hickman decommit.

Not projection, have watched him shoot, that’s too small a sample size to draw any conclusion from. He has a pretty decent stroke. No, no one is calling him Bielfeldt

I loved those warm bread subs the Convenience mart used to make.  Baked bread daily, fresh deli meat, a soda and that little bit of chocolate candy thrown in all for $3.29 I think.  When I was working at the HT and finishing school I would swing in there for lunch before class a couple times a week at least.  And if i could not afford the sub you could get a bag of great popcorn for 50 cents.

Do they still make their own bread and subs on site?

If you haven’t been to the CFM in the last 5 years, you wouldn’t recognize the place. Ownership has changed hands and they aren’t making anything fresh.

Minnesota power forward Brandon Johnson enters the portal.  Averaged 8.9 points and 6.1 rebounds last year for the Gophers after playing at Western Michigan for three years.  His junior year at Western Michigan he averaged 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Gophers look to be really bad next year.

Minnesota's struggles post Pitino leaving are where I wonder if folks like Goodman thought we might be heading with his who do you think you are comments.  The Gophers may have been right in moving on from Pitino but took a risky move in hiring their coach and it may be a long time before we know if it was the right move.  Indiana, on the other hand, may have take a slightly risky hire with Woodson but with the resources we have placed around him (Matta, Fife, Hunter and Yasir) combined with his own style have allowed him some early success.

I think we as fans expected the success could happen with resources and the right person leading and hopefully on-court results will follow.

I think we’re going to look back in a couple years and realize that the one time transfer rule has made the best programs* even better (and the bag men of college bbal coughwillwadebrucepearlcough). The programs that recruit elite talent often have to deal with unexpected departures to the pros and being able to address it with an impact player in the spring will just make the rich richer and the Minnesota’s poorer.

*inexplicably does not include Coach Cal and UK, who have struck out so much so far but god am I laughing hard

I get it, but who’s to say they won’t give transfers Money too?

By the same token, some mid and low majors are going to see an influx of talent come in that they wouldn't have before as some players from P6 transfer to places where they are going to get more playing time.  Take a look at UNLV, for instance -- they are bringing in seven transfer, four of which are from the Big 12 (2 from Texas, 1 from Oklahoma, and 1 from West Virginia).  Stephen F. Austin is going to bring in players from Kansas and Texas A&M.  New Mexico will be bringing in players from Arizona State, Minnesota (Jamal Mashburn followed Pitino Jr), Kansas, and TCU.  I'm not sure that overall a conference like the Big Ten got better -- that is, I'm not sure the trasnfers in are any better than the group that left.  Minnesota, Iowa, and Penn State most definitely got worse.
