Have never heard of the 1st kid. Is he a ‘27 HS kid? Sorry, I believe what I read was a misprint. Don't seem to be any descent bigs left to reclassify.. Quote

I get the argument that the ‘21 kids get jobbed because they’re the 1 recent class that wouldn’t get a 5th year via either Covid or the new rules. And you know what? I don’t care. At some point you have to get this deal systematized and it’s now. And yet I’m completely confident that one of these kids will find some judge that’ll buy that argument and stay the new rules and here we go again. I assume the unfilled roster slot is in anticipation of that exact eventuality. Wonder how much that kid at Alabama got paid to basically not play? Essentially all these kids have to do is get a stay long enough to extract some guaranteed money from a desperate school. I bet there are a couple who have little prospect for playing but think a potential 6 figure payday is worth the roll of the legal dice. Demo 1 Quote
Demo Posted Wednesday at 02:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:57 PM Ant is cold blooded but I wouldn’t much argue his point. Louisville is about to find out they dropped a zillion dollars on a PG who tends to shrink. Stuhoo 1 Quote

I also suspect that Shelstad is a truckload better than Zoom Diallo for the same price. Hoosierfanyuh 1 Quote

Demo Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Obviously could be, and probably is, enormously exaggerated, but I just don’t understand the value of deals like this one. This kid’s playing 1 year and that’s it. He rolls an ankle or tweaks a hammy or just has a bad night in the round of 32 and you’re going home without winning a thing and he’s off to the League and you got exactly what for that investment? Way too specious for me. Class of '66 Old Fart and BannerVille 2 Quote

It’s not sustainable in general, but I don’t think one offs like this bother someone like him who is seemingly a massive fan of the team Demo 1 Quote

I’m always gonna look at this stuff from a ROI perspective which is how someone without unlimited resources thinks, and Repole is definitely not that. Also, Pitino has insinuated a few places that this might be his last year. If so, money will be no object. RoderickJaynes 1 Quote

Yeah I think the framing from the uber wealthy is a gift (or donation, I’m not sure if they can make it tax deductible) rather than a true investment. At least in the relative infancy of NIL. It would probably get pretty tiring to be making a 10M gift every year lol Quote
