Kansas State center Baye Fall has entered the transfer portal, source told me and @JamieShaw5. The 6-11 sophomore is a former McDonalds’ All-American. Began his career at Arkansas.

Anyone who puts value in being a MCDAA or not being one really needs to look at Baye Fall. He was there on the strength of a couple of good camps and that he was an elite run/jump athlete who could really change direction. But he straight up hated contact and he was a glacially slow mental processor. When IU showed some interest in Baye Ndongo I found a couple of games they played against each other and there was simply no question who the better player was. Ndongo flat handled him.

One could say, Ndongo was the Baye(to)Watch, and easily kept Fall at Baye.

Malachi Smith to UConn…that’s another talented guard in a crowded backcourt.

That backcourt is now very crowded.  5/6 guys expecting to play numbers

FWIW the UConn board I keep up with thinks that unless Karaban comes back, Mullins has a very good chance to start in a 3 guard lineup with Demary and Ball. Front court of Reed and Stewart. Karaban comes back, Stewart almost certainly starts at the 3. Mullins will probably get starter or sixth man minutes IMO.

Getting a high level HS recruit at the last minute because he got recruited over in the portal might be one of the ways you get good players for a decent price in the new system. It would be great if it worked out for IU.

Is Mullins generally more highly regarded by the UConn folks than Adams?

Definitely, they view Mullins as the best player in their recruiting class and it's not particularly close.

Their fans are wondering if they will target a back up big guy next or rely on Reibe to sub in.

For the most part, I'd say they think Adams is least likely to get run of their freshmen.

A lot of them think Jacob Furphy is going to get more minutes in the backcourt than him. Others think Furphy is more of a project and will play less than Adams or more on the wing. They mostly project Adams at around 5-10 minutes a game right now. I think they're up to 9 or 10 on the roster now without Karaban coming back. He should decide soon I'd think.

I don't think this is accurate but thought I'd share anyways.

This is what Evan Miya is putting at the 'valuation' of the players added via the portal, not what has actually been paid.  Iowa pretty much has had a full rebuild with a lot of spots being filled by transfers from Drake.  FWIW, Bennett Stirtz's valuation is off the charts (on On3, he has a valuation North of $2 million).  But there is no way that Iowa paid that much......rumor was their offer to Dix was only $1 million and Iowa doesn't have big NIL.

Personally, I also happen to think that Stirtz is going to show some struggles this upcoming season when he faces Big Ten competition game after game.

Real good one enters -- and he's an all name team one:

Xzayvier Brown, St. Joe's 6'2" guard.  Two years eligibility left.  17.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 4.6 apg.  Shot 42/35/90.  Over two seasons has averaged 15 pts, 4.6 reb, 3.8 ast, shot 44/38/86.
