It was a home game against Howard where we struggled to pull away in the second half. The camera panned to our bench, and I've never seen a group of players who looked more beaten down and disinterested in just the second game of the season. It was kind of surreal. I was at that ISU game. Walking back to the car I thought to myself, “I hope four years from now we’re not looking back at tonight saying we should have seen it coming all along.” I pushed that thought from my mind because at the time I thought, no way. Looking back though... 323SGrant, gohoosiers97, Class of '66 Old Fart and 6 others 9 Quote

lillurk Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 The start was bad but there have been lots of bad moments along the way, too Quote
lillurk Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I recall last offseason I made the point that while the three MSU wins were nice, they were real outliers and the pro-Arch crowd should consider just how close IU had been to losing all three. IU had been pretty middling even WITH those wins. Without them, IU would’ve been nowhere close to the bubble two years ago, and sweating a lot more last year. pumpfake and Loaded Chicken Sandwich 2 Quote
Unexpectedflash Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 (edited) Saw somewhere that Archie is like 2-22 vs Michigan, OSU, Purdue, and Wisky. You can’t have a guaranteed loss to a third of the league and keep your job here. Edited March 7, 2021 by Unexpectedflash lillurk 1 Quote

Justin Smith's block was pretty awesome to win one of those. Quote

Justin could’ve really helped this year. Would’ve been nice to have someone well-suited to guard Ron Harper Jr., Eric Henry, Franz Wagner... Loaded Chicken Sandwich 1 Quote

lillurk Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Not sure his record against the spread or as an underdog, but combing through...: y1: only obvious one is Norte Dame. Can make a case for PSU and UMd. y2: Marquette, @PSU? Louisville? Then the MSU games and Wisconsin. y3: FSU, OSU, MSU, home vs. Iowa and MN are probably toss-ups, PSU, @ MN y4: PSU and UMd look pretty good with hindsight, but otherwise it’s just the Iowa wins Quote

Popular Post Hoosierfan2017 Posted March 7, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2021 Late in the second half of today’s game reminded me of why I liked the Archie hire. When he was talking to the ref about the technical. I really wish this had worked out. I liked his no nonsense approach. I liked that he seemed like a hoops junkie. I really disliked Crean. I couldn’t stand the guy at the end of his time here tbh. I don’t feel like that toward Archie. It’s nothing personal. I hope that he’s able to succeed wherever he ends up after IU. It just hasn’t worked out here for whatever reason. tkbbn, DLG3, coonhounds and 13 others 15 1 Quote

However, letting a team that is 1-16 from 3 keep shooting kind of proves his "no nonsense" approach is BS. Quote

Yeah, I don’t know why the no nonsense approach at the beginning hasn’t translated to his coaching here. He’s had a number of head scratching decisions in that regard. At this point though I think he’s just checked out. Alford Bailey and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote
schoosier Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 0-7 vs Purdue. How can our fans and alumni stand to live in Indiana when we suck this bad? Nice guy but cannot coach nor recruit with a strategy to win games. It’s time Dolson. Fire Archie and give someone a chance. Rookie33, Loaded Chicken Sandwich, MemphisHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
