A Transfer Coming?

IU should really work to get a multi-year big on the last available scholarship, whether a late-rising 2020 HSer we haven’t heard they’re after or a transfer.

I think Duncomb is a nice long-term piece and I like either/both Race and a particular ‘21 PF to play some minutes as a small-ball 5, but as of now the 2020-21 and 21-22 rosters seem to have one clear gap at the 5.

I think we have a couple people to play the 5 this year.  Trayce and Brunk. 21-22 wouldn’t mind getting a grad transfer to give Logan a year to adjust

Yes, got my years mixed up. Brass is right. Brunk graduates and assuming Trayce is at least a serious possibility to leave, you need someone you know can give you good minutes at the five thereafter.
 

20+ minutes, IMO, even if you play small some and trust Duncomb some in year one.

I agree TJD is more than capable at the 5, but he played a lot of 4 last year and if the scholarship is just sitting there.....

Either way you are right about the following season, definitely need some depth there. Depending on a true Freshman center in the B1G (with only undersized forwards backing him up) sounds like a recipe for unmet expectations, no matter how talented the rest of the roster.

If We can get a two year guy by all means go for it.

IF Lander isn't able to reclassify, could use someone to spell RP.  If not, getting a limited minute grad spot up shooter wouldn't be the worst thing to have around.

Damezi announced his transfer to Loyola Chicago.  Wish him the very best.

This is a good move for Damezi. Loyola is an excellent school with a storied basketball tradition. They won the NCAA championship in 1963 and reached the Final Four in 2018.  Damezi will be closer to home (Chicago is 90 miles from South Bend) so his family can readily watch him play. It is a nice campus located on the shores of Lake Michigan. I hope he is able to find his jump shot. As a South Bend native and IU graduate, I'm rooting for him.

Good move for DA and IU. I’m sure he feels bad about underperforming, but he handled him self very professionally. I will be rooting for him!

Oliver Sarr is transferring from Wake Forest. 7 ft center averaged 14 & 9. Wouldn’t mind seeing him at the 5 and TJD at the 4. Trying to apply for a waiver to be able for next year due to coaching change

I always wonder how much the coaches facilitate these transfers for the players. We had a scrimmage with Loyola a couple years ago and the coaching staffs are probably somewhat familiar with each other. I wonder if that led to a few phone calls to find Damezi a landing spot.

Assuming the transfer is amicable, which it certainly seems so in this case, I think it's pretty safe to assume that either Archie called Moser on Anderon's behalf or that Moser called Archie for background and Archie helped.
