I wish I could end that statement with the word “way”.

We are severely lacking shooters, ball handlers and after this season will need a center.

It’s tbd as to whether Phinisee ever becomes the OG leader we need but regardless, we need another like yesterday.

We have zero great shooters on this team and that’s been the case since Archie got here and it’s crushing to watch teams sag off and clog the lane for drives and post play.

Our bigs are actually pretty good with TJD and Brunk but much of that is TJD and he could be gone after this year, very likely gone after next year along with Brunk and we have nobody on the roster that is clearly developing into a replacement for either.

Sooooo... one would expect if we looked at our incoming recruits we would be addressing the above 3 needs, but instead we’re bringing in 3 combo guards/small forwards that don’t fill any of our needs.

Maybe Leal can be the shooter we need but he isn’t the instant impact guy that can be expected to right away - he’s no Kyle Guy

What is the staffs strategy/thoughts as we go into next year with this team and our incoming players?

I love the players we have coming in, so this isn't meant to be a slight to them, but our current 2020 recruiting class should be the kind of class IU pulls in when we're a top 10 team coming off consecutive Final 4 seasons and we're sure to cash in on a loaded 2021 class.  A nice "glue guys" type of class.

Instead, we're trying to get blood from a turnip and hope that Anthony Leal and Trey Galloway can shoot 40% from 3 and play 20+ mpg.  Neither of those will happen.

Again, I really like our current players and their long term potential, but this is not a "just wait 'til next year because help is on the way" type of class.

All valid points. We arent addressing any needs and will continue to lack a complete roster.

At least not yet ... I’ve been hearing of a possible reclass for Lander to 2020?

I believe IU is the only school pushing him to do that.  Problem is, Lander is vastly overrated.  I feel bad for him because he would have a lot of pressure on him to perform.  There's a reason the bigger guys have never come calling.  Caleb Love just beat him pretty good not too long ago.

Vastly overrated according to who?  If not a 5*, what is he really, a high 4*?   Would still be a nice addition to the class we’d sure take him if we can get him.  “Big dogs” or not, there are a lot of kids out there that would love to have his offers list.

I’ve seen this posted on here but are you hearing there are legs to this? I would be all for him coming in next year, overrated or not, he’s still as good or better than Phinisee and would at a minimum give us depth at a very shaky position for us

I'm not sure we have a center now. LOL! But De'Ron is the only big we're losing. Brunk is a redshirt junior and hopefully, TJD will be back.

With Davis gone, we officially have 1 returning center that will be a senior. You don’t think we should have a backup and player in the fold to take over the minutes?

Why wait to address until the cupboard is 100% bare? That seems like mismanagement of a roster

Maybe a bit off topic, but a few times that seemed to be the Tom Crean approach...

Which should tell us it's probably a bad idea.

About the only thing Crean did that wasn’t a bad idea was having multiple shooters.

Why are people so certain TJD won't be back? I've looked at multiple mock draft sites and he isn't listed anywhere. NBA Draft Room doesn't show him in either round, and also includes a list of 23 more players who could be drafted, and he's not even listed there. He's not even showing up in mock drafts for 2021.

I think he'd have to have a monster Big Ten season to even have a chance at getting drafted this summer. Until he demonstrates an ability to score from outside the paint and proves he has a hand on his right arm, I doubt any NBA team would be interested.

Zone offense...........okay, I couldn't even type that straight face.

3 years in, a problem every year, and we still have no shooters with none on the way.  Unbelievable.

Disagree. He keeps balling out like he has as an 18-19 year old - he will quickly move up the draft ranks. Super athletic smooth mover with great length, solid d, outside shot can be developed. NBA pedigree- dude will be gone.

I can’t speak for everyone nor do I believe everyone thinks this, probably a generalization on your part but it is possible he leaves after this year and imo very likely he leaves after his sophomore season.

Davis is gone, Brunk is gone after next season and TJD is likely gone. Many could argue that that combo of TJD and Brunk has been our bright spot/most consistent and it will most likely be gone after next season and that’s ok, but you have to plan for it and reload.

There just doesn’t seem to be any plan for these two leaving. Archie could land another 5* and grad transfer after this year and see no fall off but that is a huge gamble.

The more obvious and safer thing to do is fill one of those needs this year and only leave one to be filled for the following year, allowing this freshmen a year in the system in backup minutes.

I felt this way when we had Yogi and Crean never back filled that Point Guard spot

The same could be said for at least a dozen other players, none of that stuff makes him stand out.

I think some of our fans feel this way for two reasons: cynicism that we aren't very good and can't keep our best players around, and not really grasping how difficult it is for a player to become a first round pick at this age.
