Both are behind teams that they are better in terms in metrics and conf tourney, but worse in regular season conf record. Not sure what people think of Lunardi but he implies conf record still matters and the committee uses the eye test. Also says conference tourneys don’t matter that much, which seems pretty self evident. Still annoyed about the play-in game, but on to Tuesday. pumpfake and BtownStrength 2 Quote

He's right in that the committee doesn't seem to look at conference tournament pretty much and it still using conference record and 'eye test' -- IMO the two worst metrics to use. And here is something I couldn't believe I heard coming from the committee chair -- in discussing Texas A&M, he said 'yes, they went 23-12 and played well in their tourney, but they lost 8 in a row at one point and you have to look at that.' Really? So the 0-8 cancels out the fact they were 23-4 the rest of the time and won seven in a row after the eight in a row period? The committee said they don't look at the last ten anymore (and A&M was 8-2 in that respect anyway) but apparently the games from 11-20 games ago are used? Quote

That’s wild. I can defend conf regular season record as a metric, at least partially. But picking random loss streaks seems exceedingly dumb, even for the NCAA. RaceToTheTop 1 Quote

That's exactly the kind of dumb that happens when you make a questionable decision, then have to come up with reasons to explain/justify it and then do that poorly. str8baller, pumpfake and HoosierHoopster 3 Quote
IUc2016 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 What's everyone's rooting level for the Big Ten? Normally I don't really care as long as purdue loses early. But this year I am tired of hearing about the big ten choking in March and how it is overrated. So on one hand I don't want that to continue, but on the other I don't want teams like Michigan, Rutgers, and Ohio State to have much success as they are just ahead of IU in the pecking order. So for me, I would be fine with Iowa going on a run to the elite 8, Izzo beating coach K and getting to the sweet 16/elite 8, and Purdue losing to Yale. The other's can all lose early as well. And then IU making it to the final four because that is what we do. GO HOOSIERS! Quote

Popular Post RaceToTheTop Posted March 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2022 At the end of the day, I think the majority of people on this board had one goal to consider the season a success: make the tournament. We did that. We won 20 games. We broke the Purdue losing streak. Obviously there were hiccups but we really only had two games all year that we weren't competitive until the final buzzer: Michigan and Illinois. And we came back and beat them both in the Big Ten tournament. Next year: let's get the Wisky bug out of the way. Joe_hoopsier, Bowhunter, HoosierHoopster and 12 others 15 Quote

And having returning players take big jumps in the off-season. And having a baseline e and e where one or two players don't stick out like sore thumbs. And having a balanced/dynamic offense that is hard to defend. That will result in.. some good noncon wins. competing for a Big 1.o regular season championship. Hoosierfan1901 1 Quote

Tipped off much Jerry? :) Regardless, who cares 5 days ago we weren't even in. This time of year, you just have to win. Go Hoosiers Quote

Or in certain situations, like 2016 Wisconsin vs the 38-0 UK team. I enjoy early exits for most of our conference in hopes that will cause the conference front office to do something about the officiating. Hovadipo and jk34 2 Quote
