rcbowla Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Besides Stuhoo's point/question on how the 4 works out going forward, it's also somewhat a road game vs home game thing imo for the guards, in particular Bates. I'm not in the give up on him camp, but he needs to find his mojo / confidence again. He's had some excellent games, but without going back and checking I think they were home, and his away game play just hasn't been there (though I saw a post that said he hasn't shown he can pass, and that's just wrong imo, he's had some terrific passes to the post in traffic and otherwise in moving the ball inside). He was outstanding in that MSU game, but has largely disappeared. And in fairness, Gallo has had some real off games offensively, he brings it defensively every game so he's going to play, but when he contributes more on both ends our overall guard play is much better. It's impressive that we've continued to win despite not scoring that well recently, shows just how good TJD and JHS are and that the team does have depth for other players to show up (like Kopp), but we need those other guys to step up again to run deep.I feel like he had a solid game at Illinois. But that was so long ago I could be remembering it wrong.Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk Quote

Gallo had that 4-5 game including his 3, and played a big part in that dominant game. lillurk 1 Quote

Once X is back, Tamar slides to the backup three spot (along with Gallo in crunch time). Our biggest question mark by far is from our "4-spot buffet" IMO. X is the big unknown right now. I mean I think he gets back and helps us for sure but how much remains to be seen. Bates needs to get it going or his minutes are going to disappear. I think Gallo will continue to play heavy minutes and will be on the floor to close out games regardless of X. Stuhoo and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

No road games outside the top 75 except for the Minny game. Big 12 and B1G teams get no days off on the road. ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Only 1 team has an average of under 100. Kansas is that team. If your average wins is under 100 then that’s a crazy compliment. HoosierHoopster, ALASKA HOOSIER, RaceToTheTop and 1 other 4 Quote

Hoosierfan1901 Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 On TR, we went from from a likely a 4 seed before the game and now likely a 6 seed after it Quote

I could make an argument that a 6 seed is a better position than a 4 or 5 seed. As always with the tournament it will depend on matchups HoosierHoopster, Hoosierfan1901, hoosierbgh and 1 other 4 Quote

AKHoosier Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 21 wins before the BTT. That's my benchmark for this team right now. Pick up a win in the conference tournament, hopefully at least 2, and that would put us at 22-11 for the season. I'd have to think we'd be no lower than a 5 seed, but lots depends on what other teams do too. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
