mdn82 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Especially when there’s a coaching search going on Right. I expect that hire to occur in August after recruiting is over. We will hear more recruiting news over the coming weeks. It will quiet up until mid August when kids go back to high school. Then it will ramp up in September. Just to expand on this the reason there isn’t news recently is IU has identified who their top targets have been earlier in evaluation periods and there really isn’t much out there. July evaluations will bring more news. In my opinion you will see them active with the same recruits they have been tracking this summer. Like you said I feel 3 commits early and that would leave 1 open for the late signing period and also maybe more. Staff will have a better idea in the late signing period of how the current roster will look. From following the staff this summer it’s clear who they are targeting. Some might not agree with who they are targeting and might not be happy with that class but if IU landed them I’m guessing you would have a happy staff. My best guess from all the info that I’ve seen would put the possible early commits as: 1.Cross( archie loves his game and I believe he is the lead recruiter, since IU has been involved you could make an argument he is their top priority) 2. Galloway- i don’t see anyway he isn’t a Hoosier. Just feels like since they pushed for him for me it’s just a matter of time 3. Leal- I just don’t see him going anywhere else as well. Maybe if those 2 before him committed first maybe there would be hesitation but I truly feel there is a place on the roster for all 3. Cross and Galloway feel like they will be the first dominoes to fall. Only my opinion but I hope they land all 3 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app yogisballin, Walking Boot of Doom, MemphisHoosier and 11 others 14 Quote
Stuhoo Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Those three. Then, we push for a fourth from the various high level point guards we've been looking at, and see if we can get a visit from a dream scenario five star like Clarke or Garcia. Not sure where Loveday fits into the equation, but it seems as though we are a legit contender with him too. We already are guaranteed to have four open spots, but more likely to have five or six. If one assumes that Archie wants about 12 on scholly, that would mean a class of three with no additional/early transfers, four with one early transfer, and five with two early transfers. If he kept 13 on scholly (which I strongly believe is not his preference unless one or more were red-shirts or sit a year transfers), that would equate to a class of four with no transfers, five with one transfer. WayneFleekHoosier Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Agree with the 3 mentioned as our likely top targets and likely most probable recruits. Not as confident we get Cross. Galloway will happen, and I think it’ll happen soon. I feel like the staff would like Loveday and have spent a lot of time with him as well. I guess he seems like the 4th primary target based on amount of time spent. I’d like to get a scorer like Steward but that could be Cross. He’s a gunner. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

After the TJD committ and the Butler game it all went downhill from there. Brunk and Romeo getting drafted were the only positives. It has been rough!!! Quote

mdn82 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 That's about normal right? Didn't Phinisee commit in late August and Armaan in early September? Yes that is decently normal. Every year we start getting antsy in May or June. Then by September who we have committed is the next Lebron James. It’s a vicious cycle.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app HoosierFan1994, ElectricBoogaloo, thebigweave and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Popular Post mdn82 Posted July 9, 2019 Popular Post Posted July 9, 2019 Thanks guys for giving me some reading material. I was starting to get the shakes. Sent from my LG-K371 using BtownBanners mobile app Yeah man on Thursday it will pick up and there will be a sensory overload. Then a couple of weeks of nothing. Then the satellite camps. It will seem like a fever pitch. Then we will start hearing how xxxx player will commit by the start of their high school year only to wait two weeks after. Then it’s September and we are never getting another recruit again. Football starts and we will get our depth recruits. Then it becomes we are never getting a great recruit again while a faction explains how our 2 commits are the second coming of MJ. That will get us to October. Then some overall optimism sets in before the fall signing period. We then find out a recruit we were certain is signing in November is going in the spring. The sky is falling. That lasts til mid to late January. Player xxx is coming here (hooray!!) and if not (fire the AD!!!). It starts picking up until the end of May. Then we are back at square one with we are never getting another recruit again. If you can follow that pattern 9/10 years you are set. I have been on boards for many years and it’s pretty much like clockwork. Much like me saying this. If you find a general thread for each year I have this same exact convo in June/July of every year.
