mdn82 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 I have yet to see any team in their midnight madness not scrimmage. Fan support is kind of important. You want to see that fan support lessen which is one thing highlighted to recruits from IU, then take away the scrimmage. Would be utterly stupid. Yeah let’s take away the one reason over 10k people show up to HH. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners WayneFleekHoosier, BGVille Hoosierfan, Class of '66 Old Fart and 2 others 5 Quote
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 So basically IU has to be stuck in the past because the fanbase won’t get with the times. God forbid anything modern and hip be done. Wouldn’t want to piss of the blue haired crowd. No rappers, light shows, or anything cool. Just a pep band, cheerleaders with sweaters, and a scrimmage running the motion offense. People who cover IU basketball have said that recruits don’t enjoy watching the scrimmage. They aren’t attending the event for that.So you can't have a scrimmage with the other stuff you're wanting? It has to be one or the other? Again I ask, how do you know recruits don't want to see scrimmages? If no recruit has ever come out said it publicly, h as ve you talked to them privately? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk Quote
mdn82 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 This is more idiotic than any of the Fred Glass conversations. What in the hell does a scrimmage have to do with the other stuff? I would hate to insult the recruits by giving the paying customers what every team in the country has. Nothing like turning a crowd of over 10k into 2k for recruits if there were no basketball. But I guess you have to actually go to the event to understand it as a fan instead of being 50 living vicariously through a 16 year old. mdn82 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Honestly I am more than curious to see how Romeo is fitting in and Justin Smith has improved than anything else during HH. Beyond that I hope to see a more confident Green manning the point. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners MikeRoberts 1 Quote
yogisballin Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Would really like to know if there is a scrimmage or not? Me and my kids would have a 4.5 hour drive one way. We won’t make the trip unless there is a scrummage Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mdn82 1 Quote

I'm with everyone that wants to see the scrimmage. It's the best part. Dunk contests miiiight be so hype, or they might be the opposite. Last year's dunk contest was embarrassing. IUGradman, you make an important point. There's room to consider the show, but don't discount that some of the old school charm is unique and attractive also. We are one of the storied programs that can pull it off, and it would be foolish to discard it entirely. Still, I get what you're saying regarding the optics of a program with pep bands and cheerleaders in sweaters. Hilarious, but also: coonhounds, BGVille Hoosierfan, LIHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote

schoosier Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 I’m ready for the season to start and as excited about any season since 2011-12. Archie has his recruits, and his players have a year under his coaching. I’m expecting big results and some beat downs like we haven’t seen in a long time. mdn82, thebigweave, Class of '66 Old Fart and 3 others 6 Quote

Hoosierfan2017 Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 If they have the scrimmage then they should do something to make it more interesting. I found it to be kind of boring last year. Hoosier Hysteria as a whole last year was a bit of a let down. I live out of state so I won't be there this year unfortunately, but I hope it's better this time around. Iugradman 1 Quote

coonhounds Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 Hoosier hysteria can be boring but that is reason they dont charge. It is more about supporting the team and showing recruits our passion. It is a chance for a early look at our team that usually means nothing but take the scrimmage away and it would be hard for me to attend Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app BGVille Hoosierfan, woodenshoemanHoosierfan, WayneFleekHoosier and 1 other 4 Quote
