One more thing, as mentioned above, it may be that in his contract, in order to receive the buyout for getting fired, he must look for and obtain a job to receive said buyout?  In other words, he can't just sit around collecting a paycheck.

Thank you!  Started down this path a few pages back.  Glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks this.

Wischnowky is a Chicago sports and news columnist.      FWIW

Word from my IU buddy is that If Groce doesn't get Akron HC job, it's likely he'll join the IU staff & be the main recruiter within Indiana.

Kuwik, Ostrom, Cheaney, Tonagel, Lewis.
Get a couple of them and I'm a happy man.

Well said Stuhoo. I would throw in Damon Bailey too as he might want to get a little further south now that his son is playing high school ball in Bedford. That would further strengthen Indiana high school recruiting with perhaps the biggest high school legend of all time on the staff. Besides--I want to get him away from the Butler program!

I don't think Damon's a realistic choice for at least 2 more years as his daughter has 2 more years to play at Butler.  His son Brayton will be in the '20 recruiting class and maybe then depending upon just how good Brayton is and where he goes to college.

Who else is up for the Akron job

Akron Beacon Journal 2 days ago:

• Jeff Boals, head coach at Stony Brook, who spent seven seasons as an assistant under Thad Matta at Ohio State.

• Geno Ford, a Stony Brook assistant and former head coach at Bradley University and Kent State. Ford was an assistant for the KSU team that made a memorable run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament in 2002.

• Chris Jent, former Ohio State player and current assistant coach for the Buckeyes. He was a candidate for the job recently filled at Cleveland State.

• Lamont Paris, former Zips lead recruiter and assistant from 2005-10. He is an assistant at Wisconsin.
