Yeah and last season they were in the Western Conference Finals. Things change in the NBA from season to season. One decent year and he's going to book it back to college? Meh.

The way people talk about this makes you wonder. Do they think BD would bolt IU for another job if the Hoosiers were to finish 5th in the league after his 2nd season?

Same logic, yes. But the context is different. In college you can finish 5th and then have a top 10 recruiting class coming and win the conference the next year. Whereas in the NBA Kevin Durant is an all-time great and you simply can't replace that, especially at a place like OKC. 

The fix is a great deal longer in the NBA.

What if he surrounded himself with high level veteran assistants? Strengthening the bench coaching wise, so to speak?

Obviously I would love to have these Donovan to IU rumors be true, as he'd be a great coach for our Hoosiers, but I can't help escape the reality that all the pro-Donovan talk is coming from mysterious unconfirmed sources on IU message boards.  All of the public discussion is spinning towards Alford, and that bothers me, because I tend to believe the national people, and the local media, are actually hearing this Alford to IU stuff.  I want Donovan, but I'm expecting it to be Alford.  Just my opinion.

However, he is turning 63 years old this week, so I can't see him being any kind of real option.
