They also said Crean was coming back the night before the presser.

That's the one thing that gives me some hope.  The posters saying Crean was gone the night before are saying Donovan unless something changes.

I just can't bring myself to believe it.  I've seen IU make too many stupid decisions.

Preposterously epic.

I want it. Don't believe it. I think it'll be Alford. If it's Fife, I quit IUBB.

Also, if our "resources won't be a problem" approach can't land an elite coach, I may be done as well.

I really think Glass wants Alford though.

I choose to believe Fred's "double check plus" remarks on guys with Indiana ties was just a calculated smokescreen -- it makes me feel better.

I can't see IU wanting to hire a coach that they know will immediately require them to vouch for his character (Pierce).

Not to mention having to explain away a very mediocre coaching record that pretty much proves he's no better than the guy who just got canned.

I agree if Fife is in I don't know what to do. I'm enrolled o attend Indiana next year and I just want my 4 years there to be fun basketball and them to be good again. Hopefully it's Donovan. If Alford and that fails I wouldn't be shocked if Glass is next to go.

LMAO yeah we'll ridicule your children in class just like we did CTC.

Are you serious. Firstly, that story always seemed unsubstantiated. And if it did happen, it was one teacher making a bad joke, possibly not even knowing the child was in the class.

Secondly, winners get treated like absolute royalty.

Every fanbase has bad apples. Especially one as large as hoosiernation. Don't lump us all into the same category.

Watching that IU basketball intro they've been doing this year at the home games.

I want Crean back. Give me Crean for another year to avoid Alford and Marshall. Join the cause!

With regards to the okc vs IU job...

Who cares what Westbrick is doing? Donovan gets zero benefit from him hunting the Big O's record. It probably drives him crazy on the inside. Sure, it's fun to watch purely from an athletic standpoint. My physiology mind is in awe watching him play sometimes. However, my basketball mind goes crazy watching him play almost always. I can imagine a man who likes to actually coach the game of basketball might feel the same way.

They are a middle of the road team with middle of the road talent (sorry Vic...i know you'll continue to grow). Passing up THIS job, THIS opportunity to revive one of the historically iconic basketball programs in the NCAA where it is known as BASKETBALL COUNTRY.... Well, is one more year of a one man show with a small market NBA franchise really worth it? If we can see it, he can see it.

Now, from a lifestyle standpoint, the NBA life is probably quite a bit easier and more enjoyable outside of basketball. No recruiting. No babysitting players with not yet fully developed frontal lobes. More time with family (but this is merely an assumption), etc.

It's simply future vs future if you're Billy Donovan considering these jobs in front of you. We have a more promising future with him at the helm. Are things really looking up in OKC? Probably not. Neither scenario is guaranteed, but one definitely seems more fulfilling. I just wish we knew what he is looking for with his future.
