Trish Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 You draft on potential, not skill set. If we drafted on skill set all the time, Yogi would've been a top 5 pick. Frank Mason would be a top 5 pick as well. OG has tremendous upside as a SF in today's league. I call him a baby Kawhi. He's got incredible length, strength, and defense. Assuming he recovers fully, he's going to be a nice player in the NBA. I see him going 10th-18th. thebigweave, moyemayhem, ThompsonHoosier and 2 others 5 Quote
HinnyHoosier Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Well we knew it was coming, but still a bit of a bummer to actually see it happening. I'll root for him the same as our others. Now I'm gonna have to give in and buy NBA league pass. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

He has a lot of potential just like Oladipo did. Not too worried about him. I think his best interests are to come back and develop. I know that's not the popular opinion. He's not going to be doing much of anything next year or couple years. It's easy to say go take the money. But, a couple million minus fifty percent (maybe more depending where) and then you're not even getting to agent costs etc. It's really not that much money. Certainly not enough to live on your entire life. A lot of people have been picked on "potential". That's a word you hear a lot but rarely ever do players live up to it fully. Keep in mind, if he turns into an NBA superstar, I would happily eat my crow. I just don't see it. Quote
ramadden13 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I'm going to root for OG but I wouldn't touch him in the first round. Not this year. No footwork at all. He will not create the separation needed at the NBA level. Travel MACHINE before he got hurt. He needed to come back and play to develop and not just go ride pine. He will only rebound and dunk at the next level. Can't create his own shot yet. Just my .02 No one drafting OG is doing so under the belief that he's a finished product. He'd be a perfect pick in the mid-late first round for a team with playoff potential that won't expect him to start. Then he'll be able to work on his skill development as his career without having to go to school, start for a team, etc.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Dude is jacked so I'm sure he has some functional strength to go with that. And at the 4 he'd be one of the most athletic players. If he adds a post game he will be fine and not have to be able to create his own shot ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Cheaney40 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Been away for quite a while .... anything to know that's not currently out there in the media about who's staying and going? I saw OG (with agent) and Blackmon (without) ... any chatter about Bryant? Any talk of anyone being "Creaned" (can we still use that term?) to make room for incoming freshmen ... sorry if i'm causing the thread to repeat itself ... Quote

Not always true or I think Troy would've been drafted. He's always had the potential to do great things but his skill set looked like he was Europe bound. I agree though, I think OG will be just fine in the NBA. There really is no benefit for kids in his position to stay in school, if he comes back and destroys his knee then he just passed up on potential millions. He can always get that degree, but the chance to make life changing money wont always be there. SteelerHoosier, incrediboy, IUfan_Charlie and 5 others 8 Quote

LamarCheeks Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Sorry to see OG, go. But knowing sooner rather than later will be beneficial. At least his decision is final, so Archie won't have to wait till May 24 to know what his plans are. CR3AMnCR1MS0N, pumpfake and Kepner 3 Quote
