recker222000 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I am guessing he is gone by who retweeted and who liked. Which it sucks, but he may have transferred back closer to home if Crean were still here. Edit: That's been the word for a couple months. He was ready to be close to home. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWord was he was leaving under crean. We shall see. We can get graf transfers if need be.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk mdn82 1 Quote

I think this season was a complete disaster so I don't think we can use it to draw much about what the players can do next year. A fresh start with a new coach could do both of them good. Archie sounds like the complete opposite of Crean so they might end up being completely different players next year. They can both leave and play immediately elsewhere so if either one comes back next year that tells me that they're buying into Archie's system. bnkepner, IUChamp28, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
recker222000 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Anyone on the roster. Those two don't care one bit about playing defense, and neither have improved since they were freshmen. Or not much. Blackmon is an incredibly selfish player; and Johnson is equally lazy. They've had 3 years to show what they are; and they have. I doubt miller would allow jbj to play with the way crean allowed him to play. Miller said we play defense. Jbj knows so its up to him.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Miller'sTheMan Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Also how college ready is Smith's game? He's obviously our highest rated recruit but I haven't really followed him as closely as I would like to. Im curious because if one of Rojo/JBJ + OG leave Smith may very well start at the 3. Quote
Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I think were losing Clifton Moore sadly, Al Durham due to Mckinley Wright probably coming Durham isnt gonna wanna compete with 4 or 5 guys, Colin Hartman, OG, RoJo, Gelon and possibly JBJ. I think it is hilarious at anyone saying they dont want him. Who actually played defense last year? How can you single him out? Look at Yogi for example. His sophomore and junior year were worse than JBJ if you wanna go by selfishness. I didnt care about Yogi cause no one else was willing to step up just like with JBJ. Yogi went on to have a great senior year and with a disciplined coach so could JBJ. You dont just find guys that can shoot like him. I agree he needs to earn his starting spot but he won us games by himself almost last year and every single team we played keyed on him. With that said we could lose a lot of guys. Almost half our team. TB could leave too. So recap...TB, OG, JBJ, Moore, Hartman, Gelon, Durham, RoJo and maybe Priller. That is 8 or 9 kids from 15 potential guys. Obviously we can only have 12 so guys were gonna have to leave anyways but it could leave Archie with 6-10 guys. I really hope we find out soon what guys are wanting to do so he can hit the road and get some guys. I think of that 15 we definitely lose 5.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Jam, Hoosiers High Life and hsrtxp 3 Quote
Popular Post Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 28, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2017 To add onto JBJ the kid has never once got in trouble his entire time here or even had an on court or off court incident beside his defense that even made you frown. I just dont get how you could just want him gone. I like anyone that decides they wanna be a Hoosier and will support them while they are one. If Archie wants him gone or anyone else that is fine or if they want to move on fine but if they want to be here and Archie wants them here then so do I and I expect everyone here to do their best to make us a tourney team next year.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER, Hutch89, Hoosiers High Life and 12 others 15 Quote

The fanbase is excited and if he takes over Crean's roster and has them playing really good basketball that will make the entire country take notice. Honestly he has a lot of talent too. Assuming one of Rojo/JBJ stay (even better if both stay), and TB stays as rumored our roster is looking like a starting 5 of: Green Johnson/Blackmon Smith Morgan Bryant with Davis/CuJo/Newkirk/McSwain/Durham (I think he'll stay) off the bench think Davis is likely to get about as much playing time as Bryant even if TB stays-Davis is the more polished and comfortable post player anyway, Bryant's more of a stretch 4 who (unfortunately) isn't as good a shooter as he thinks he is but if TB comes back and plays 1 more season at IU, with Arch's coaching it's a golden opportunity for Thomas to play his way back up into the 1st round of the (2018) NBA draft ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote
Stromboli Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Yeah I hope JBJ stays. For heaven's sake he's one of the best players in the league. Why do people assume Gelon is leaving? indy317219 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Why does everyone expect a mass exodus? This is a different situation. Usually a team is hurt by a coach leaving. I don't think these guys lost 1 minute of sleep about Crean leaving. We hired a coach that I believe will work very hard to earn their trust. I imagine that a lot of guys will at least give him 1 year to see if he's a difference maker or not.Sent from my SM-G935P using BtownBanners mobile appI wouldn't under estimate this rosters attachment to Crean. However, Miller probably won over most of the room. Those that leave would have done so with or without Crean. OG, JBJ, Bryant? Johnson? bnkepner 1 Quote

I hear what you and others are saying in terms of nobody playing D so how can JBJ and RoJo be singled out. But remember, these guys are 3-year starting juniors. Crean talked a lot this past season about a lack of leadership and specifically pertaining to the junior class. Seems he was pointing that finger directly at these two. Being the quasi leaders, they should have been leading by example on that end of the court. RoJo had a golden opportunity to be the prime leader for the next two years and hasn't grabbed it yet. We definitely weren't good as a team, but there were some individuals who played decently at times. I definitely got the feeling it wasn't being stressed. However, I spent a good portion of the season watching JBJ on D. Yes, I get he is a great scorer, but he absolutely killed the team. I can't tell you how many times he lost his man and then just picked up whoever was closest or easiest for him to guard. This lead to confusion for the whole defense, and usually an opposing player who was left unguarded. Those were the times that he actually showed some interest in playing D, which definitely wasn't a given. When the coach accepts mediocrity and lack of discipline, the players are more than willing to accept it. Hopefully, that could be the difference in JBJ being a true team contributor or just a shot hunter. Tom White 1 Quote

It's kind of funny, but I had to bite my tongue on more than one occasion when posters were criticizing JBJ (understandably so) and ignoring RJ. Both have had significant stretches of poor offensive play, poor decision making and lackluster defense. It's disappointing to see that neither has shown the improvement this past year we would have hoped for. It's been obvious to me that JBJ has never fully bought in - he's had one eye on going pro ever since he arrived. That hasn't been the case with Rojo, but he's seemed kind of disinterested the last few months. Buy in 100% and work hard and I want players to stay. If not, do yourself and the program a favor and move on. Tom White, bnkepner and Old Friend 3 Quote

Theres a reason why both Johnson and Blackmon Jr were rumored to be transferring if Crean were to return as coach. Johnson has been our best defender in the past and Blackmon Jr is our best scorer. Archie seems to be one of those coaches that gets the most out of his players and I think we will see a different version of some of the players than they were under Crean. Today's generation is all bout offense bc no one cares bout defense in the NBA and that's ultimately what these kids are striving for! The coach has to stress how important defense is and I don't believe crean did. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I honestly think all we lose are OG and Hartman. Archie doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to be kicking people off the team unless there are issues with them. Gelon and Priller seem to be hard workers, so Archie will keep them around I assume. If Dayton hires one of their staff members as the head coach, McKinley Wright won’t even leave Dayton. No one from our staff has even talked to him either because he is signed. I think Archie zero’s in on Durham and Moore before anyone else. I think Durham ends up here. Moore is the wildcard here because the list of schools interested in him is pretty big. Villanova and Virginia are two of those. I don’t see us having a mass exodus this year at all. Archie has hit the ground running working hard so I think he will be able to convince a lot of players to stay. Those who stay will buy in and be ready to work and Archie will fill out the rest of the roster with those who want to compete. thebigweave and Tom White 2 Quote
