MikeRoberts Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 How does OG's injury factor into things? Will the bar still be set in the same place for Crean the rest of the year? Can't imagine it not being a factor. Crean lost 40% of the starting lineup to season ending injuries. While it shouldn't be a factor when looking at the bigger picture, it will be considered when looking at this particular season, it has to. 40% of the starting lineup + other injuries that have kept key players out is not something to ignoreSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app mdn82, ALASKA HOOSIER and Hoosierfan2017 3 Quote

Agree. We were unranked and 13-6, 7th in the B1G with him. The only way it factors in is if he somehow turns it around and we win 9 of our next 10, finish top 3 in the B1G, and go to an Elite 8 or maybe Sweet 16. I highly doubt that will happen. But for the record, I'll definitely be rooting for it to happen since I want us to win no matter who the coach is. Hovadipo, ALASKA HOOSIER, Str8Hoosiers and 1 other 4 Quote
recker222000 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Tournament, no tournament will likely be the swinging pendulum for whether he stays or goes. If he squeaks in, even as a 10 seed and loses in the first round, I think he stays. If we don't make the tourney and maybe not even make the NIT, I think the pressure will be too much for him not to be sent packingSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appSqueaking in is basically a win or two better than than the nit. Nor the contant negative barrage on social media. Heck, even I quit the IU fan page on FB. It was brutal. The guy's been a head coach for 18 seasons and he's made it past the sweet 16 once. And never while at Indiana in 9 seasons. He's finished above 5th just 3 times in 12 seasons in BCS conferences (sorry, I think C-USA was garbage while he was there...just can't bring myself to credit him for that). He finished 11th in the Big Ten his 3rd year at Indiana, and 8th, then 7th in years 6 and 7 at IU. Even if you take away his first 2 seasons at IU (which I think is fair), his conference record is 62-52. That is not good enough at Indiana, and I don't care how you measure things. OG getting hurt provides yet another excuse. Crean seems to either do just enough or have just enough excuses; and it's maddening. I would like to know...and I mean really know whether or not the IU administration wants to be an elite level program or not. And if they don't, we can all stop caring. You realize Cincy, Louisville, and Memphis with Calipari was there when he was there right? They had the 2nd highest RPI of every conference one year and were hovering around 5 for most other years. They weren't trash. When Marquette went to the Big East they weren't trash. So the fact that 2001-2002 season they finished 2nd by 1 game to a team that was a 1 seed in the tournament. Next year they go to the final four. Memphis under Calipari. Louisville under Pitino. Top heavy, but not a crap conference. There is a reason why the Big East wanted all those teams. I don't know. He isn't a great coach for IU. Do we really need to omit true data to help our argument. Throw it all out there. VO5 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I think if the season ends the way that it's looking now, Glass will be forced to act. There will simply be too much negativity and pressure from all sides. If you read around from those in the know, it seems quite a few people other than the fans are unhappy. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Omit true data? What data did I omit? It was a crap league, and I'll get to that in a second. You've had a personal "thing" for me for way too long and it's kinda old. And kinda' childish. C-USA was not a difficult conference in which to finish 4th or higher. It just wasn't; which is why I don't give him credit for doing so. Especially when you have Dwayne Wade (did you KNOW Crean used to coach him?) and two other NBA players on the roster for multiple seasons. In that conference? By the way, his only two truly successful seasons while in C-USA. Seems to me a decent coach could lose fewer than 8 games every year in that conference even without a historically great player, but I digress. Alas....in his last year in C-USA, his team in 2005 finished 7-9 in 9th behind Alabama Birmingham, Houston, DePaul, and Texas Christian. In 2004, he was 8-8 and 8th, behind Charlotte and UAB. He did fine with a hall of famer. C-USA had a few decent teams, but a coach worthy of a job at Indiana ought to be consistently able to finish ahead of UAB. Even while there he missed the post season once and went to the NIT 3 times. This is a league with Tulane, Eastern Carolina, Southern Miss, UAB, Charlotte, Texas Christian, Alabama Birmingham, and Houston. It was absolutely a crap league. I didn't say all teams were bad, I said it was a crap league, yet in his final two seasons..playing those teams, he couldn't even have a winning record or finish above 8th? Nit pick all you want, but the case against him isn't harmed by your pissing contest with me., Let's cut the bullsh*t, okay? You've taken enough pot shots. I dropped the name so you can, too. Conferences like the mountain west, A-10, and American are all down so don't be surprised if there are more middle of the pack major conference teams get in this year. I'm not saying I would be thrilled if that's how we got in but just by looking at overall numbers all around college basketball bubble will be projected soft (even though they say that every year. In my opinion they wouldn't even need to win a game in the BTT if they went 9-9Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mdn82 1 Quote

Our signature wins (as it stands today) will be ancient history by NCAA tournament time. Also, perception - possible reality - that the B1G is not particularly strong as a whole.
