8bucks Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 At the end of the Alabama game, less than a minute to play, one of the Bama kids commits an unsportsmanlike penalty. When Saban found him he told him to leave the field. Saban probably is not a guy you want as a neighbor but he knows how to send a message Alford Bailey and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

mdn82 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I don't know what else we can say or argue about in this thread. All we can do is wait and hope for better days. and hopefully some change. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersI don't think you will find much argument in this thread. Something has to give. GloryDays Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Good points. That D is not something we see that often. When we do, it is our kryptonite. Those teams that play that kind of D don't always win the NCAA championship so others find a way past them. Kind of like the Patriot D in the early Manning/Colts years. We beat everyone but we're too finesse oriented and could not win against that style Manning eventually figured it out enough to start having some success against them. Can Crean?Probably not. Quote

The reason I say that is there is very low possibility of him being fired this year due to making the tournament. Next year he will either be extended or fired. Buyout is low and you have to have a coach under a contract to be able to reasonably recruit. He isn't getting under two years without something happening.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Popular Post Alford Bailey Posted January 1, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2017 Think my bro in law said it best this afternoon. This Crean tenure has become exhausting for the diehard IU fan. Just enough big wins and so many WTFs. Ryno6284, MikeRoberts, theriverpilot and 7 others 10 Quote

I think the clock could start early if the candidate we want is ready this year. If he is not and Crean does enough then the wait another year. Quote
recker222000 Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I think this thread is going to get a lot of usage this season. Crean has at least another year. It would take two bad years for glass to even think about firing him. Sadly we are stuck with him.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

Popular Post TheWatShot Posted January 1, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2017 I'm just going to say this again: Glass is letting it play out because he knows how important his next basketball hire will be and doesn't want to make a change just for the sake of making a change. It isn't as simple as just handing Stevens a blank check. So can we please stop with the "Glass will never fire Crean/Crean will be here as long as Glass is" nonsense? I generally think you are right. However, he will have a hard time convincing us an extension is necessary again if we don't have a big year before it. So without a big year, he may need to make a move before say BS is available. Quote

The Sabans, Meyers, Izzos, Coach K arent trying to reinvent the wheel. These guys are sound fundamentally in their respective sport, usually great on defense and recruit great players to be successful. IU under Crean is never sound on fundamentals, never great on defense, always turns the ball over at a high rate and have to hit 15 threes a game to overcome this. Will never be a recipe for success. Bama didnt have a great game today but they were sound on D then went to the punishing run game in the fourth quarter. Fundamental football. Crean seems to be anti fundamental basketball. HoosierTrav Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Tom Crean: “The biggest thing to me, I don’t see us shooting that way very often.” This is worrisome. More chucking 3's to come for our hoosiers!Yeah he thinks his scheme is perfect the way it is and that today's performance is an outlier. The problem is that this happens all the time against teams like Louisville, Wisconsin, Butler, etc. His teams have ALWAYS turned the ball over at an alarming rate. They ALWAYS look disorganized and confused in the halfcourt and they ALWAYS make dumbfounding mistakes on the defensive side of the ball. These things wouldn't bother me so much if they were the outliers with his teams but this isn't the case. He just does not possess the ability to be elite nationally. What we have seen in the almost decade with him, is exactly what we have to look forward to. I wish it wasn't the case bc I realize that he's here to stay for a while. I'm just bummed out about where we are. I just want us to fulfill our potential as a basketball program. Right now we are settling for being an inconsistent, middle of the pack (nationally) program. We can do much better than this. Just need the right fit. Brad Stevens, would be perfect for Indiana but won't be a realistic possibility, ever. We are just going to have to get lucky. Happy New Years everyone! Trish 1 Quote

Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app I said it during the Butler game. Great coaches get a lead on us then manage the game in the second half. All you have to do is kill momentum when we start to run. Piece of cake for guys like Pitino and Holtmann. recker222000, ALASKA HOOSIER, HoosierAloha and 1 other 4 Quote
