I want to believe it's Billy D, but have a hard time believing we have any perspective coach in the bag with how hard Glass has been fighting to retain Crean. If I was the AD and sniffed Billy D wanted the IU job, I am moving on from Crean even if the timing was last year.

Believe me i am not backing this rumor but do hope it is true. Just remember that glass fighting for crean is all speculation also. He has said nothing and don't appear to be in a hurry to do so. That could mean anything imo

Here is the stuff of my dreams...

Glass is just stringing along Crean to fire him on July 1st after he try to punk him with Mizzou. Then he announces Donovan has been working behind the scenes as coach since April and recruiting like a boss.

I really want to believe all these sources saying IU has reached out to other coaches like Billy Donovan, and that he is interested, but then I come back to others saying Glass doesn't want to fire Crean, but is open for Crean finding a soft landing.  

I'm sorry, but if we've actually reached out to Billy D, and he's interested, and some saying that talks have gone good with Billy's people...then why hasn't Glass freaking fired Crean?!?  

You don't hold on to Crean for fear of hurting his feelings when you can hire Billy Donovan!!!  It doesn't jive.

Glass may be being told tonight his butt is on the line if he keeps his boy. I think the grown ups are now taking over now.

claiming crean was informed weeks ago he was done were totallly false. Sounds like as of last night he still possibly thought hed be back.

That I know to be true. Boosters have been the only ones that have been vocal about the decision until today even. Glass has no clue what he is doing either. I know we all joked but the OSU and Northwestern games may have been the hold up apparently. 500 or below would have gotten it done a lot sooner.

I look at it another way.  Billy Donovan would be in a tough spot if he keeps getting asked about the IU position.  I think if it's true Glass could wait till July 1st  ( presumably when the THunder are eliminated from the Playoffs), to help ease Donovan's transition to IU.  Just my guess.
