TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

Accepting mediocrity isn't the same as rooting for these guys to win.

If I were ok with mediocrity as you suggest, I'd be giving high fives for a "good effort" after a loss. That's ridiculous and doesn't describe me at all.

But not cheering for them seems as bad if not WORSE than accepting mediocrity. And I see a lot of people here cheering for the other team ... Including PURDUE!! (are you freaking kidding me?) ... Because that loss might get Crean fired.

We need to accept that nothing we do will result in his firing ... Unless you're a big time donor, sadly you don't have a voice.

He'll go eventually... Until then, don't cheer AGAINST IU, and don't accept mediocrity... Cheer for the W's. If your health can't take it as someone mentioned, that's one thing. But if you're just annoyed we're not winning, I'm serious, don't bother cheering when we are winning. That's annoying.

Thank you for letting me know that I'm never allowed to cheer for IU again if I decide not to cheer for pushing IU further and further in to obscurity.

This is the definition of a fair weather fan.

I'll support them when it's acceptable. But when I deem it unacceptable, I'll ignore them or as some here have stated, they'll find another team to watch (Butler for instance).

A fair weather fan is someone who follows a team when it's successful and isn't interested when it's not. I can probably guarantee everyone on this board followed IU during the first 3 years of Crean's tenure and the 6 win season. What you have here are diehard fans that are frustrated and disappointed. Disappointed enough that the product being sold is quickly losing its value to some.

No matter who the coach is, I'll probably never be able to stop watching IU basketball. I just can't do it

I don't think many will totally stop watching, but I don't think people will make it priority or spend the money to go to a game.

Pretty accurate assumption.  I never in my life thought I'd get to the point of wanting the team to lose to get a new coach, yet here I am.  I didn't even hit that level watching Mike Davis bumble around.

It's basically like this guys. If the administration doesn't care about whether the program is elite or not, why should we? We will soon find out how the administration truly feels

For me it is because this is my program I grew up with. I went to school here, and love basketball. I don't expect everyone to have the same background. I do expect the majority of people saying they won't be here aren't being true to theirselves. They will be back if for no other reason than to continue saying the things they have if we aren't winning. It usually is quieter on a message board when you are winning. This is cheaper than a psychiatrist.

Until that coach loses then you'll turn them off again?

I'm not a Crean fan. But I'm a Hoosiers fan and I don't see how an IU fan can just not watch or support them because they disagree with the powers that be.

I'm 65, well on my way to 66. I've seen the highs and lows of sports teams, suffered through the age of disco and the rise of fast food.

If I can tell you anything, it is that life is too short to listen to bad music, eat bad food or watch bad basketball.

Having an honest exchange of thoughts though, is still worthwhile.

Oh I will hang around here. I enjoy conversing with you folks, but I won't be in the game threads nor will I watch the games themselves.

I can tell you haven't listed to much new music in a few decades.  Most of it is just varying level of garbage.

I don't think the guy that made up that story realized it would be right in the middle of the selection show.

Something that big would have been leaked by the press by now
