After thinking, there is one way I can see benefit to waiting and this is hypothetical.

I can see benefit to waiting if there has been quite a bit of progress on a deal with someone like Donovan and something like timing is the hang up (although as I've already mentioned there are still ways to make it work) and you're confident a deal will be made that he'll sign.  Waiting could help to allow the time for him to finish his season while we at least have the illusion of a coach, plus there is at least some deniability publicly for both sides if we wait.

That's about the only way I see benefit to waiting.

EDIT:  The problem is it also makes it pretty obvious both sides were talking while under a previous contract because it's unlikely a deal came together in short time.  Not a good look for either side.

This is what I've been thinking as well.

Have it my friend. Hopefully they give you more to cheer about than to cuss about. I won't be tuning it.

Well, for anyone who shares this opinion, that's fine but in my opinion, you might rethink tuning back in if/when we're competing for titles.

As a fan, you suffer through the tough times to celebrate the good times. Even if you don't support the current AD or coach, you root for the Hoosiers ...

And if you're not able to, then keep the TV off when we're at the top again (with or without a new coach)

I added an edit.  Neither side looks good particularly good in the end because it would be obvious there was considerable discussion while under a previous contract.

I like IU, but not enough to stick around and root for garbage teams. If the guys at the top let the fans know that they don't care about winning then neither will I.

For me it's not about the desire to watch, though that has waned. It is about the fact that 5 minutes into the games I am so frustrated that continuing to watch is bad for my health and familial relationships. I'd love to be able to watch and cheer regardless of stupid plays and lack of defensive effort. That's just me.

Not sure why there is so much optimism with Donovan.. The dude is making $6mil a year and coaching one of the best players in the game. Don't see him regressing back to college unless he's forced. It's a pipe dream to think he ends up at IU in my opinion.

I doubt Donovan is coaching Westbrook to be  a shot chucker

Be honest, are you the guy that yelled at Crean after the Wisconsin game? I see a lot of Maryland in your avatar!

I sat through a 6 win season and cheered our boys on the entire time. I have been patient with the current regime. I will no longer invest my time in the product if the powers to be feel this is acceptable. I will gladly tune back in when a change is made.

Until that coach loses then you'll turn them off again?

I'm not a Crean fan. But I'm a Hoosiers fan and I don't see how an IU fan can just not watch or support them because they disagree with the powers that be.
